Job Overview 

The Maintenance Mechanic’s primary responsibility is to carry out maintenance repairs, PMs, and equipment modifications related to production processes and facilities. This responsibility will be accomplished by following proper food safety, and Health and safety procedures as well as following maintenance administrative procedures (e.g. Filling out work order and PM information). 

This role is permanent full-time with a standard 37.5 hour work week and eligibility for overtime. 

Shift: Night (11pm - 7am)

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Perform all planned maintenance (Preventive & Predictive) assigned in a timely manner and use Computerized Maintenance Management System to log in all planned, reactive and emergency activities. 
  • Repair and capture detailed root cause and countermeasures of breakdowns and communicate effectively to management and peers. 
  • Ensures effective and timely on-floor support to the maintenance department members, including regular, off-shift and weekend coverage as required. 
  • Assist in the on-going improvement of work order system 
  • Works with the maintenance and engineering team to implement permanent solutions for equipment and process problems 
  • Support the effort to develop and document maintenance procedures, one point lesson and implement a competency-based training program. 
  • Works as a team member on small and large technical projects. 
  • Performs additional work as required.

The Recipe for Success: 

  • Licensed millwright (eg, 433A), Technician or Technologist Degree or Diploma related to maintenance/engineering, with a preference to electrical, mechanical and robotics specialization. 
  • Ability to work with CMMS; conduct and complete planned maintenance tasks, able to complete work orders, and able to generate work orders. 
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven and high intensity environment 
  • Strong communication, learning and teaching skills 
  • Strong team player 
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical periodicals, procedures, engineering drawings and government regulations. 
  • Highly motivated and capable of conducting root cause analysis to identify permanent countermeasure 
  • Strong computer MS Excel skills including the ability to gather, analyze and present information and working knowledge of MS Office suite of programs.
