Job Overview
On an entry-level basis and under the supervision of a licensed Electrician, responsible for assisting with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and food manufacturing equipment to ensure a timely production start-up to attain production and quality goals/standards. As well as support with any other maintenance activities as directed by the maintenance supervisor.
Day Shift: 7:00 am - 3:00 pm
This role is permanent full-time position with a standard 37.5 hour work week.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in performing scheduled preventative maintenance tasks on production equipment, including wiring, conduit, lighting, and power distribution.
- Learn and apply electrical codes and regulations (to ensure safe and compliant work practices.
- Under supervision, assist in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues on various equipment, including motors, sensors, and control systems.
- Learn to identify root causes of problems and implement effective solutions.
- Fulfil all areas delineated in the Apprenticeship Curriculum Standard provided by Skilled Trades Ontario.
- Demonstrate and receive sign-off on competencies/skills in your Apprenticeship Training Standard Logbook
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work performed, parts used, and equipment status
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to Lockout/Tagout, confined space entry, hot work permit and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in or planning to enroll in an Industrial Electrician apprenticeship program
- 1 year experience in maintenance or in an Industrial Electrician program
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to build relationships and work with people
- Strong computer skills including MS Excel, Word, etc.
- Training in business, inventory and purchasing
- Knowledge in using CMMS and LOTO
- Production equipment principles
Working Conditions:
- Ability to work in a team, and/or under minimal supervision.
- Moderate level of exposure to loud noise
- Moderate level of working in area where exposed to heavy equipment/machinery operations or traffic
- Requires working in areas with temperature and humidity variations based on local weather conditions, and on selecting environment (Dry, Cooler, Freezer)
