The Bike Park Equipment Operator plays a crucial role in the construction, maintenance, and operation of the trails and infrastructure at Panorama Mountain Resort’s Bike Park. This role combines hands-on trail maintenance with heavy equipment operation to ensure the highest safety and quality standards for riders. The ideal candidate is an experienced mountain biker with strong mechanical skills, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to work in varying outdoor conditions.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Trail Maintenance & Construction:
- Operate a variety of equipment build and maintain bike trails.
- Ensure trails remain in top condition by inspecting and repairing features, drainage systems, and signage.
- Identify and execute necessary terrain modifications to enhance ride flow and safety.
- Equipment Operation & Maintenance:
- such as excavators, ATVs, chainsaws, and hand tools to
- Safely operate machinery including excavators, chainsaws, line trimmers mowers, 4x4 vehicles, and compactors on varied terrain.
- Perform daily inspections and minor maintenance on equipment.
- Ensure tools and machines are stored and maintained properly.
- Guest & Staff Interaction:
- Provide a welcoming and helpful presence on the mountain for guests.
- Assist with lift evacuations as needed (training provided).
- Work effectively within a team while maintaining minimal supervision.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Maintain a safe and organized worksite.
- Ensure trails are clearly marked with appropriate signage.
- Adapt to changing weather and trail conditions to maintain operational standards.
Experience & Requirements:
- Strong mountain biking skills with an understanding of trail features and maintenance.
- Equipment operation experience (excavators, terrain tractors, ATVs) is an asset.
- Chainsaw operating experience.
- Valid BC driver’s license.
- High level of physical fitness (ability to lift 60 lbs and work in varying weather conditions).
- First Aid certification is an asset.
- Flexible schedule to accommodate weather-dependent work.
