This position is:

Hybrid, at least 3 days per week in office

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining Core Telephony Networks, Provisioning, Troubleshooting
  • Core Telephony hardware and software installation and upgrades to core Elements
  • Using trouble-shooting techniques to resolve problems on Eastlink’s
    network Telephony.
  • Working on special projects with other departments, including Internet,
    Video, Packet Cable Operations, IT and Customer Solution Engineering to help
    facilitate Eastlink’s growing network.
  • Working closely with Provisioning on special Work Orders.
  • Working with Tier 2 support teams on trouble tickets and the NOC on
    network troubles, providing 3rd level support.
  • Working with Network Engineering, identifying and alleviating traffic and
    growth situations.
  • Interfacing with client care in delivering customer’s Telephone services
    over an SIP, TDM, UC and MS Teams
  • You will provide leadership and direction when faced with network outages
    and provide excellent problem solving skills and techniques during outages.
  • After hours support for telephone products

 

Requirements: 

  • Graduate of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or formal training in an
    Electronics/Electrical Program from a recognizable institution and/or relevant
    work experience
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Telephone communications or IP networking
  • Experience with Metaswitch or Ribbon products preferred.
  • Understanding of PRI, ISUP, SS7, Centrex and Residential phone services.
  • Understanding of Packet Cable, SIP Peering, SIP Trunking for Business and
    SIP Lines services. 
  • Working knowledge of IP routing protocols and familiarity with DOCSIS protocol and DSL Technologies.
  • Experience with Cisco IP, Fixed Wireless, Packet Telephony, DSL, PON, CMTS and HFC networks.

  • Ensure all notifications and Change Controls are updated and sent to the NOC.
  • Customer focus/sense of urgency when working customer impacting issues.
  • Work with Network Engineering on moves, additions, grooming and network build out.

 

Working conditions:

  • Responsibilities are regular 40 hour week Home/office during daytime
    shift.
  • Travel may be required on special project basis.
  • Responsibilities also include working overtime and doing shift work as
    required.
  • Participation in the On Call rotation as required.
  • A valid driver’s license and be bondable (reliability clearance)
