Position: Personal Support Worker, Full-Time, Nights Shifts(10pm-6am)

Home: Regency Long-Term Care 

Location: Port-Hope, ON

We are currently seeking passionate and compassionate Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to join our team. As a PSW, you will provide direct personal and nursing care to our residents, helping to meet their physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual needs in alignment with our policies, procedures, and work routines.

As Personal Support Worker, you will be responsible for:

  • Provide direct personal care to residents, including assistance with ambulation, feeding, bathing, and grooming.
  • Encourage and support resident participation in activity programs, assisting them to and from activities.
  • Assist with meal service and nourishment delivery, offering feeding assistance as needed.
  • Provide emotional and social support to residents and their families, including those receiving palliative care.
  • Adhere to departmental policies and procedures related to documentation, quality assurance, fire safety, environment, and infection control.
  • Collaborate with and update your supervisor regarding unit activities, resident care needs, and other relevant matters.
  • Participate in care conferences and contribute to documentation related to individual care plans.

 

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and skills

  • Successful completion of a Personal Support Worker (PSW) program that meets the standards established by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, the National Association of Career Colleges, or the Ontario Community Support Association (minimum of 600 hours of education and practical experience).
  • Previous experience in long-term care is an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience with care planning systems and documentation.
  • Physically and mentally capable of performing the required duties.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with staff, residents, and families.
  • Demonstrated empathy, compassion, and a commitment to providing high-quality care and service.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to complete tasks efficiently and on time.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Capacity to provide resident care in compliance with relevant legislation, care routines, and nursing care plans, with a proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English.
