Southbridge, the owner and operator of several long-term care homes and retirement communities across Southwestern Ontario, is currently seeking an Environmental Services Manager to join their long-term care home in Hensall, ON.
Our Queensway, Long Term Care Home is located in the heart of Huron County, a lovely rural community that is a short distance from the shores of Lake Huron/Grand Bend, 40 minutes from the city of London and Stratford. There are many activities and special events to enjoy, such as beach life, year-round camping and amazing outdoor activities at Pinery Provincial Park. There are Flea/Farm Markets, and a variety of restaurants in ‘Ontario’s West Coast’ and art galleries around ‘Ontario’s West Coast’.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Environmental Services Manager is responsible for performing general routine maintenance, and servicing operations throughout the home, keeping our home environment safe for residents and staff alike! This role is also managing the housekeeping, laundry and maintenance departments to achieve high standards of cleanliness and sanitation and to provide quality linen service.

The following is a list of tasks to be addressed as per the Environmental schedule: :
- Maintenance needs within Queensway – i.e. plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, drywall, etc.
- Supervision of contractors ensuring work meets requirements and standards;
- Responsible for monthly/yearly budget (inventory, supplies and equipment needs);
- Policy compliance and leading potential new initiatives and projects;
- Management Leadership with Health and Safety Committee;
- Managing laundry, housekeeping and maintenance;
- Liaison with staffing needs - hiring, performance management and scheduling;
The ideal candidate for this role will have the following:
- Environmental Services Certificate in a recognized program;
- Two or more years of management experience within long-term care or similar role would be considered an asset;
- Experience managing employees in a unionized environment;
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
- Knowledge of the Long Term Care Homes is an asset;
- Demonstrated experience with building maintenance and upkeep;
- Excellent interpersonal, project and time management, and communication skills;
- A pro-active and positive attitude with the ability to adapt to a changing environment;
