About the Role:

As the Regional Director of New Business Development - EMEA, the position is responsible and accountable for sourcing suitable new external multi-unit franchisee partner leads (both operating and capital partners) and negotiating and closing partnership deals that drive new restaurant growth across the region.  Additionally, this position partners with Existing Business Development team and Field Operations on finding and cultivating sustainable growth partners already operating in the Subway system. The Director creates strategy to fill the NRO Pipeline while also supporting the objectives of consolidating franchisees and recruiting qualified external candidates.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement the strategy and framework to source new business partnerships with suitable multi-unit operators (e.g. corporate partners, growing MUO’s) to step-change restaurant growth in the region.
  • Identify ways to enhance the candidate pipeline and associated processes to ensure high conversion rates from prospective candidate to franchisee.  
  • Partnering with Senior Directors, Field Operations and Existing Business Development to fill the new restaurant opening pipeline with viable locations for net restaurant growth.
  • Leveraging tools like Tango to enable the team to craft territory-specific development plans annually. Identifying data and tools necessary to further the expansion of NROs while contributing to the refinement and management of tools like REV 2.0 to direct the team on where to hunt for locations. 
  • Developing the team to ensure capabilities are built and acted on to ensure a constant flow of NROs. Teach the bucketing system for risk mitigation to the team and ensure they can implement mitigation procedures at the market level.
  • Develop a succession plan to cross train Head of Franchise Performance and Field Development Managers to ensure a constant talent pool for recruitment. 

 

Qualifications (some examples listed below):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Real Estate, Construction Management or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in QSR, restaurant or food retail experience. Regional EMEA experience is advantageous.
  • Strategic and analytical thinker that can build strategic selling pitch/business case for new MUO partners 
  • Savvy and skilled deal negotiation to drive from initial lead to deal closure 
  • Creative problem solving that encompasses the bigger picture of saving & growing restaurant count. 
  • Cross functional leadership and communication skills to bring about the vision, resources, and alignment to deliver the goals of New Restaurant Openings; Net Restaurant Growth & MUO Consolidation. 
  • Sense of responsibility to be both bold in saving viable locations but also accountable for offsetting the loss of restaurant count annually.
