WHAT WILL YOU DO

The Director of Data and Analytics is a senior leadership position responsible for driving data-driven decision making across the organization. This key leadership role will be responsible for driving the data strategy across the organization, ensuring the effective use of data to deliver business insights, and implementing cutting-edge analytics solutions to enhance business decision-making. This role requires strategic collaboration across all business streams and Data & Information Technology teams to deliver innovative solutions that drive significant business value.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develop and implement the organization's overall data and analytics strategy, aligning it with business strategy and objectives.
  • Apply business strategy while driving technology strategy, balancing needs to ensure the architecture can scale and evolve.
  • Responsible for shaping the organization’s data culture and working with senior leaders to embed data-driven decision-making.
  • Lead the development and implementation of data governance policies, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Responsible for leading the design and support of enterprise-wide business intelligence applications and architecture.
  • Works with enterprise-wide business and IT senior management to understand and prioritize data and information requirements.
  • Lead and manage a team of data analysts and other data professionals.
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and results-driven culture within the team.
  • Mentor a cross functional group of team members and stakeholders to deliver a culture of innovation while ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Establish the operating model and blueprint that translates our strategy into everyday actions.
  • Lead the creation of analytical models and business intelligence reports that provide actionable insights to drive business performance.
  • Provide strategic guidance on data analysis, reporting, and visualization tools to improve business outcomes.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including marketing, commercial, finance, operations, and IT to ensure data insights align with business objectives.
  • Partner with executive leadership to communicate data insights and drive data-centric business initiatives.
  • Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies in data analytics and data science, and evaluate new tools and platforms that could enhance the company’s capabilities.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING

  • The ability to gain and maintain a RAIC (RAIC Program and Application Information)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in data analysis
  • At least 8 years of experience in leadership at a senior level.
  • Demonstrated experience leading diverse teams, driving organizational change, and influencing decision-making at senior levels.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing data and analytics strategies.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing, data mining, and data visualization techniques.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex data insights into clear, actionable recommendations for non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to approach complex data challenges creatively and analytically.
  • Ability to think strategically and translate data insights into business value.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with data governance practices and experience working with sensitive or regulated data.
  • A passion for continuous learning and staying current with advancements in data science, machine learning, and AI technologies.
  • Experience working in aviation, transportation, or large-scale operational environments is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or similar frameworks is preferred.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and experience working in iterative development cycles is preferred.
  • Champion for empowering people closest to the work to make decisions while advocating this new way of decision making across the organization.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and tools for model deployment, data storage, and data processing (e.g., AWS SageMaker, Google BigQuery, Azure Databricks). 
  • Strong knowledge of data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar) to create meaningful and impactful reports and dashboards. 
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and machine learning techniques, including regression, classification, clustering, time series forecasting, natural language processing (NLP), and neural networks.  

WHAT OPTIONAL ELEMENTS SUPPORT YOUR APPLICATION (all are assets)

  • Bilingual in English or French.
  • Professional certifications in Data Science, Machine Learning, or Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is preferable.
