Practicum Student - All Programs
Students are welcomed and encouraged to apply to the agency for practicum placements. Wood's Homes is both a learning and teaching organization committed to encouraging students to learn from us as much as we can learn from them.
If you’re looking for a challenging, hands-on practicum experience and the chance to make a difference, you’ve come to the right place! Wood’s Homes is a nationally accredited mental health treatment centre that offers residential and community-based treatment for troubled youth and families.
We work with students to give them a chance to gain practical work skills while they simultaneously provide essential support to our dedicated team of Wood’s Homes staff.
During your practicum with us, you will be exposed to a variety of different programs, from Intensive Residential Treatment to Community Outreach and our Specialized Learning Centres.
We welcome the opportunity to offer you a placement that allows you to put your theory into practice - and help youth and families in your community.
Wood's Homes is responsible for creating a learning opportunity that is safe, predictable and supportive. The learning process within the program is gradual and accomplished only with clear lines of supervision and communication. The staff are expected to be familiar with the learning institution placement field-guide. This is provided to each program through the HR department as students are on-boarded into the agency and in advance of the student’s actual arrival in the program.
We thank all applicants for their interest, only those selected for an interview will be contacted. General guideline for practicum students selected for an interview:
- Interviews will occur within 2 months of the anticipated practicum start date.
- Master level interviews will occur 6 months prior to anticipated practicum start date.
