The Opportunity
As the WPI (Wolf Pipeline) Finance & Accounting Summer Student, you will have the unique opportunity to be exposed to a variety of work that ranges from assisting with the monthly forecasting and annual budget process, helping supply chain with vendor management, data management, and other accounting functions as required. This opportunity will allow you to gain insight into accounting, data management, and supply chain process, while growing your professional network, industry knowledge and gaining on-the-job experience.
This position will be based in Calgary.
WORK TERM: 4 Months – May – August 2025
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and recording of the operating expenses annual budget and monthly forecasting process
- Help with the preparation of financial reports for business leaders including variance analysis
- Support the WPI accounting team with monthly processes and ad hoc requests
- Aid with the investigation and analysis of unusual or unexpected operating costs
- Assist with conducting an analysis of digital information and developing record management polices and organize current data accordingly
- Support the WPI supply chain teams with vendors and reporting
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- Must be enrolled in a Commerce, Economics or Business program at an accredited post secondary institution. Accounting and Finance focus would be considered an asset
- You must be returning to full-time studies after the work term
Skills and Experience:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience with SharePoint is an asset
- Knowledge of Teams and SharePoint is considered an asset
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy and ability to maintain confidentiality is essential
- Verbal and written communication, multi-tasking, prioritization skills are necessary
- Must be a self-starter with strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
