The Opportunity

The Calgary-based, Operations Engineering Co-op Student (Carbon) will provide a wide range of technical support and will be responsible for supporting operations engineering and project execution within Wolf Carbon. The role will provide a valuable exposure to operations and project engineering support, including day-to-day Operations team communication and troubleshooting, supporting Wolf Carbon’s project execution team, administering various technical regulatory commitments or requirements, and providing general support on day-to-day activities. This position will require frequent visits to the field to promote collaboration and ensure a solid fundamental understanding of Wolf’s facilities.

Term: 8, 12, or 16 months starting May 2025

Location: Calgary - This role is based out of our Calgary office. Please note that no relocation assistance is provided for this role.

This position is open to post-secondary undergraduate students enrolled in a four-year engineering degree program, who have completed their third year in engineering. Candidates must be returning to school following the end of the work term to be eligible for this role.

Recent graduates are not eligible for this opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, Carbon and working closely with Wolf Carbon field Operations, Finance, Project and Business Development individuals, you will be required to:

• Provide engineering support to key stakeholders on the Wolf operations and maintenance teams for the Alberta Carbon Trunk Line (ACTL) facilities, pipelines and future expansions
• Promote an organizational culture that ensures safe, compliant, and reliable operation of assets
• Support ongoing operations data conveyance protocols and regulatory reporting - AER Directives, EPAP, Petrinex, Licenses, Authorizations, Provincial mandates and other project commitments
• Execute and support Wolf Management of Change and Critical Drawing Management processes
• Support the Pipeline Integrated Management system – coordination and collection of data to meet pipeline integrity requirements
• Turnaround planning and project support
• Support business unit reporting, Key Performance Indicator monitoring and data investigation including facility optimization and continuous improvement
• Support project execution, including planning and scheduling, cost tracking and communication

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

• Active attendance in a four-year engineering undergraduate degree, completing third year in engineering before start of the internship
• Must be returning to school following the end of the work term to be eligible for this role. Recent graduates are not eligible for this opportunity.

Experience:

• Experience with data gathering and modelling is an asset
• Knowledge of P&ID, shutdown keys, and control philosophies is an asset
• Understanding of the process review and documentation process is an asset
• Student must have a full class 5 driver's license to travel to the field
