Based out of our Nanaimo Plant, we are hiring a full-time Class 1 Driver to be a part of our team.
A typical day involves several stops to customers including food processing facilities, farms, local restaurants, supermarkets, and shopping mall complexes. Shifts are expected to start in the afternoon with hands-on work involved for some runs.
The role requires the delivery of exceptional customer service when interacting with customers. Often viewed as the face of the Company, Drivers are expected to act professionally both on the road and at locations of service when dealing with customers and the public.
This is a full-time, permanent position for 40 hours per week.
Hourly rate: $33.00/hour

ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Drive scheduled routes based on instruction from the Fleet Dispatcher and/or Production Manager
- Pick up material from various locations including processors, butcher shops, supermarkets, retailers, etc., while following strict guidelines for specific risk material handling
- Load and unload material from large trucks and/or trailers
- Maintain tools, equipment, trucks, and trailers
- Accurately completing truck scaling tickets, entering data into truck phones, and completing log sheets
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspection checks
- Report issues or concerns related to vehicle maintenance or supplies to the Production Manager in a timely manner
- Observe, inspect, and monitor bins at customer’s locations for damages
- Provide back-up relief of other driving routes at the division during other driver absences
- May be asked to operate steam plant equipment in the absence of the Shift Engineer
- Perform shift work based on company business needs which evolve and change in response to customer demands
- Work overtime as instructed to ensure minimal downtime of facilities
- Adhere to the company Code of Conduct and all West Coast Reduction Ltd. policies
- Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Possession of a valid Class 1 Driver’s License with a clean abstract required
- Possession of 4th Class Steam Ticket Certification is preferred
- Strong knowledge of surrounding neighbourhoods and areas
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, with excellent communication skills
