Accounts Payable Supervisor

PROFILE SUMMARY
Wesgroup is poised for substantial growth over the next several years and in preparation for this exciting and challenging phase, we are actively seeking a highly engaged, driven and experienced Accounts Payable Supervisor to join our team.
In this position, you will report to the Manager, Accounts Payable, and be responsible for most of the full-cycle accounts payable. This opportunity requires a results-oriented individual, who thrives on building relationships and accepting new challenges within a fast-paced environment.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Oversee the timely rent collection for tenants including EFT, Pre-authorized debits and manual cheques
- Manage the documentation of receivables collection efforts while working with the Income Producing Property (IPP) Accounting team and the Property Management team
Payables
- Manage all aspects of Accounts Payable (AP) and develop processes and procedures to ensure appropriate approvals
- Manage the AP inbox and distribution invoices to AP staff
- Oversee the payables workflows for all activities
- Correspond with Vendors and provide support to our operations teams
- Sort, batch and data entry of all overhead invoices
- Preparation of urgent and semi-monthly payment runs (EFT & Cheques)
- Maintain and prepare WorkSafeBC report prior to payment runs (delinquency check)
- Ensure posting of all month-end related entries
- Maintenance of new and existing vendor information (EFT verification)
- Distribute and manage vendor reconciliations
- Prepare and distribute Development & Construction AP Aging Report
- Communicate with Treasury to ensure accounts are funded accordingly
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements on a monthly basis
- Process improvement – identify opportunities to streamline accounts payable processes, improve efficiency, and reduce errors
- Month-end:
- Support the month-end close process and ad hoc variance analysis and reconciliations
- Assist when needed in day-to-day full-cycle accounting
- Ad-hoc tasks or special projects assigned by manager.
Management
- Support and manage the AP team in all aspects of their duties
- Provide support, 1:1 coaching, goal setting and performance discussions
- Monitor employee productivity and workload
- Provide training to new and existing AP staff
- Assist with hiring, onboarding; training and development for both new and existing AP staff.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Post secondary education in Accounting or a related field
- Experience in the property management, construction, or development industry
- Experience with Yardi Voyageur
- Excellent collaboration, verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent in problem-solving, self-motivating, and prioritizing tasks
- Excellent in working independently under pressure and having professional judgement
- High attention to detail and accuracy
EXPECTED COMPENSATION
- Annual Base Salary: The expected salary range for this role is $76,000 - $86,000 per annum. Actual offered salary will depend on individual experience, qualifications, geographic location, market conditions for the role, and internal equity.
