Reporting to the Cloud Operations Manager, the Quality Engineering Technical Lead will be responsible for leading a chapter of quality engineers responsible for defect prevention, defect detection and defect containment. The Quality Engineering chapter designs changes to our development platform and process which enable the production of high quality products efficiently and effectively. Quality engineering focuses on enabling quality validation and is distinct from test and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

  • Coaching and guiding chapter members to ensure their success.
  • Technical leadership within the Quality Engineering chapter to ensure the quality and velocity of the product development teams remains high.
  • Set, refine and improve the quality engineering vision, mission and standards.
  • Drive the adoption of quality engineering vision and standards across the R&D organization.
  • Lead the design and delivery of infrastructure to support test automation at various points in the points in the product delivery pipeline.
  • Assist in the design, review and delivery of automated tests.
  • Hold quality engineering chapter members accountable to the chapter’s standards.
  • Create a set of quality metrics and goal thresholds (OKRs).
  • Provide updates on progress toward OKRs

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years in product development including test automation
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience leading a team
  • Experience with
    • AWS (Lambda, ECS, EC2, RDS)
    • at least two test frameworks
    • Azure DevOps Pipelines
    • Cloud Native application design
  • A background developing software products
  • Hold a well formed view of quality engineering in modern product development delivery systems.

Skills

  • Ability to coach test automation engineers on how to get crystal clarity on feature requirements
  • Ability to work with development teams and test automation engineers to ensure products are designed for testability
  • Ability to work as a mentor for software developers and operating as a role model for the culture and technical excellence in your chapter
  • Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting complex issues and determining root causes
  • At least two programming languages such as: C++, C#.Net, Python, Javascript
  • Grafana, Loki, Prometheus and other monitor tools

Nice to Have

  • Experience in leading without authority
  • Docker, Kubernetes and other containerization tools
  • Helm, Terraform and other IaC tools

Education & Eligibility

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field with 3+ years of overall experience.
  • Must be eligible to work in Australia or Canada.

Travel

  • Availability for 5% travel.

 

Base salary of CAD $150,000-$180,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications.
