Associate Director, Tax (15-Month Contract)

THE ROLE
We are actively looking for an Associate Director, Tax, to join our Tax Team for a 15-Month Contract, reporting to the Senior Director, Tax. The incumbent will be responsible for helping support tax compliance.
This role is based in downtown Toronto under a hybrid work policy, allowing employees the flexibility to work remotely and in-office (approximately two days per week in-office).
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Manage capital markets tax recoveries with the custodian and external tax advisors.
- Manage queries related to capital markets tax filings from internal operations team and external managers.
- Manage Canadian GST/HST tax registrations and income tax filings including T2s, T5s and T4A‐NR.
- Review SLFI GST/HST tax returns and identify opportunities to improve recoveries.
- Review K1s and related source data and collaborate with external advisors to manage US tax compliance process.
- Prepare memoranda and related documentation to support tax filing positions.
- Provide technical guidance to Corporate Finance on Regulation 105 and assist in reviewing invoices subject to withholding.
- Liaise with Corporate Finance to remit tax and quarterly instalments to the tax authorities.
- Research technical tax issues and summarize findings in memorandum.
- Monitor new developments in tax law and prepare summaries to share knowledge with internal stakeholders.
- Assist with day‐to‐day delivery of tax compliance projects and support tax deliverables using a variety of technologies and tools.
- Apply accounting/finance acumen and technology skillsets to solve problems.
- Identify opportunities and recommend actions to improve existing tax processes including digitalizing tax workflows.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to use existing platform/ technology to find solutions to improve processes.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- CPA with a minimum of 10 years working at a professional accounting firm and/or finance services industry.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel VBA, Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Query).
- Any experience with Robotic Process Automation (RPA) products or Alteryx would be an asset.
