ACTUARIAL SPECIALIST – RISK MANAGEMENT
We are a fast-growing commercial property and casualty insurance company with operations in Canada and the United States. Our business focuses on commercial lines with a smaller personal lines portfolio. Some of our key products include liability, property, surety, and warranty. This is an exciting opportunity to join the small and growing Risk Management Department. We are looking for a technical and dynamic actuary reporting to the Chief Risk Officer of Trisura Specialty, one of the main operating divisions of Trisura Group.
Accountabilities Include:
- Collaborate with the Corporate Actuarial Department in risk and financial modeling related to
- Development of new risk and capital models with an initial focus on reinsurance counterparty credit risk and climate scenario testing
- Continued development and execution of other risk modeling supporting the ORSA and FCT processes
- Continued development of the financial forecast model and use of the model to support business planning, capital planning, and the evaluation of new business opportunities
- Implementation of property concentration mapping and deterministic catastrophe scenario testing
- Provide oversight of catastrophe modeling done by third parties
- Provide oversight of technical financial risks including Insurance Risk, Catastrophe Risk, and Reinsurance Counterparty risk within Trisura specialty
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of regulatory capital regimes in Canada and the United States as well as the Best Capital Adequacy Ratio. Support the incorporation of new risks and regulatory requirements within our risk and compliance framework through project initiatives as needed.
- Act as an advisor to the business on risk issues and provide ad hoc support such as the development of reporting, controls, policies, or processes.
- Support other risk management or actuarial projects or analyses as needed.
Qualifications:
- Associate or Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society
- 7+ years of relevant work experience
- Broad knowledge of actuarial methods in property and casualty insurance
- Experience with risk modeling, stress testing, and stochastic modeling is an asset.
- Familiarity with software such as Diva, Arius, and catastrophe modeling tools is an asset.
