How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:

The Livestock Labourer performs the day-to-day care of livestock including meeting the animals’ basic needs through feeding, grooming, and stall cleaning regimes.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Performs tasks related to daily animal care such as, but not limited to, feeding, grooming, exercising and stall cleaning regimes
  • Identifies potential hazards to animals, including predator control and pasture management of noxious plants and reports to Head of Livestock
  • Assists with daily site inspections of equipment and areas where animals reside
  • On occasion, supports the sharing of livestock knowledge through programs
  • Actively monitors animal and visitor safety
  • Incumbents may also be assigned other duties

 

What will you need to succeed:

Education (degree/diploma/certifications)   

• High school diploma

 

Experience

•1+ year of experience working in agricultural or farm setting

 

Knowledge/Skill/Ability- Competencies

• Knowledge of Livestock breeds and their care

• Ability to communicate effectively with tact and courtesy

• Able to self-manage workload and prioritize tasks independently

• Required to lift or carry objects that could weigh up to 50 pounds

• Must be flexible to work all required shifts, including weekends and holidays
