How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:
The Site Supervisor, Construction Projects provides daily work coordination of TRCA project site(s). Monitoring and inspecting the work performed and completed by staff and contractors, the Site Supervisor ensures compliance with safe work practices and applicable legislation.
This position will focus on the on site supervision of Restoration work ranging from trail construction to wetland restoration, shoreline restoration and storm water management.
Major Responsibilities:
- Oversees the overall site project, including all sub-projects for large construction projects.
- Ensures logistics for the safe and effective operation of grounds and facilities.
- Prioritize and direct daily tasks for staff and coordinates site with contractors, ensuring correct work site, proper sit preparation and adherence to project/program plans.
- Works with project administrators and coordinators to ensure accurate and timely file management of documents and records (in both paper and electronic file formats).
- Leads the daily safety meetings including tailgate meetings, hazard identification and emergency planning.
- Identifies and reports deficiencies and safety hazards, implementing risk management protocol as required; reports on impact, mitigation and follow-up as required.
- Leads administrative activities and quality assurance and control with a focus on accuracy.
- Serves as primary point of contact for all onsite emergencies, assesses situations and provides direction to all visitors and staff; documents and reports all occurrences.

- Ensures staff/volunteers/contractors, as applicable, comply with health & safety policies, and other TRCA policies, as applicable in various work environments.
What will you need to succeed:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Resource/Environmental/ Construction Management or a related field or equivalent experience
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C Certification
- Valid Ontario Class G2 driver's license
- 3+ years of experience in a construction or restoration environment
- 6 months of experience coordinating work teams in a similar environment
- Ability to interpret design drawings, undertake quantity takeoffs general site surveying/leveling and construction layout.
- Skilled in the operation of small machinery and construction equipment
- Ability to use critical thinking to evaluate problems, gather information, understand causes, and identify best possible solutions.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member to coach staff and work with stakeholders (internally and externally) and negotiate project variance/timelines; ability to deal tactfully and courteously with stakeholders, public officials.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite including online software such as MS teams, WebEx, ArcMap and SharePoint), including strong GPS/GIS experience.
