POSITION OVERVIEW:

As Platform Delivery Product Manager at The Globe and Mail you'll beat the forefront of evolving our digital product suite, not just maintaining but reimagining its potentialYou will be at the heart of our operations, ensuring that our apps and web platforms are not just stable and reliable, but also continuously optimized to deliver cutting-edge experiences for our audienceCollaborate with a dynamic cross-functional team to push boundaries, solve complex challenges, and shape the future of digital news in Canada. This is a 12-month contract with a hybrid work schedule based out of our offices in Toronto, ON. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

Platform Management 

  • Enhance app store presence and engage with users through reviews and release notes. 
  • Lead compliance efforts with Apple and Google, proactively navigating changes and leading discussions to ensure our products consistently meet platform standards 
  • Play a key role in ensuring successful operating system, vendor, and browser upgrades, minimizing risks and maximizing the benefits for our users 
  • Support the implementation of any operating system, vendor or browser upgrades 
  • Create and maintain clear and comprehensive platform documentation 
  • Drive the adoption of best-in-class product management practices, ensuring consistent, high-quality product delivery and fostering a culture of continuous improvement 
  • Maintain awareness of industry and technology advancements to drive innovation and mitigate risks 

 

Product Maintenance & Optimization 

  • Take ownership of the daily health and performance of our core digital platforms, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues to maintain peak stability and reliability 
  • Partner with engineering to troubleshoot and squash bugs, turning technical challenges into opportunities for innovative solutions that enhance the user experience 
  • Be the go-to problem solver for customer issues, ensuring swift responses and minimizing impact on our users and operations 
  • Dive deep into product analytics to uncover actionable insights, driving continuous improvement and delivering measurable results through data-informed optimizations 

 

Stakeholder Collaboration 

  • Serve as the go-to problem solver for internal stakeholders, delivering clear product updates and driving continuous improvement 
  • Synthesize and prioritize feedback from across the business to drive key initiatives that directly support our corporate strategy 
  • Bridge the gap between business and engineering, fostering seamless communication and ensuring alignment on product changes to deliver impactful results 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 3+ years in product management or a similar role, with a focus on maintaining and optimizing app and web products  
  • Strong technical background with the ability to understand and communicate technical concepts effectively 
  • Proven experience managing and executing successful app releases (iOS and Android), including planning, coordination, and deployment 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a keen ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams 
  • Demonstrated "whatever it takes" attitude and willingness to execute diverse tasks, regardless of role or title, to drive product success 
  • Experience working in a fast-paced media or news environment is highly desirable 

SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

VACCINATION POLICY:  


All offers of employment with The Globe and Mail are conditional upon the candidate being Fully Vaccinated.
