Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis (Finance) - 18 Month Contract

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis, this role will be key in helping The Globe delivers its annual commitments and will be a key asset in the future growth of the Globe.
This individual will be leading a team within Finance and will function as the analytical engine of The Globe to provide insights and support to ensure that optimal business decision making is occurring. This individual will play a key role in determining and supporting the Company’s monthly revenue forecast, full quarterly financial forecast, annual budgeting process, and special projects. S/he will provide support to senior management and oversee the preparation of financial presentations, and will support new business initiatives. This is an 18 month contract role.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Planning & Analysis
- Manage, develop and train Financial Analysts and Senior Financial Analysts, including providing constructive feedback and performance reviews
- Assist in the preparation of annual budget / quarterly forecasts and Board presentation materials and standard monthly Executive financial reporting packages
- Oversee in-depth analyses, provide financial recommendations and effectively communicate financial insights to business leaders to support decision making; act as a trusted advisor to drive insights.
- Routinely communicate business unit and company operational performance trends, historical and forecasted, using appropriate presentation formats for the intended audience; suggest trends, resulting implications, key actions, and strategic implications.
- Support FP&A team responsibilities, special projects and requests, ad hoc analysis as needed.
- Ability to influence and guide strategic discussions with respect effective/strategic spends
Decision Support / Other
- Clear communication of the results of the budget process to key stakeholders (senior management, department heads, budget managers) at appropriate levels of detail.
- Profitability analysis of various business activities (products, channels, regions, etc.)
- Develop methods to track additional indicators (e.g. customer lifetime value, district profitability, etc.), including competitive benchmarking of those drivers
- Lead scenario modeling efforts for the development and growth of the company’s portfolio of products.
- Assist in the preparation of presentations in support of quarterly board meetings, executive meetings and various strategic committees of the company.
- Oversee coordination capital review meetings, pre-review vetting process and all aspects of formal capital appropriation request documentation.
- Mindset of continual process improvement, identify deficiencies and propose possible solutions
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree; post-undergrad qualifications in Finance/Accounting
- CPA required, MBA and/or CFA an asset.
- 8+ years of finance and/or accounting experience with progressive responsibility
- Experience leading, coaching and mentoring people and teams
- Analytical thinker who can take detailed/complex information and convert to meaningful business insights, recommendations and actionable next steps.
- Good business judgment with an ability to challenge plans and assumptions and take an independent stance when appropriate.
- Professional communication and presentation skills.
- Highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized.
- Ongoing desire to push for new approaches, insights and presentations methods
- Strong Excel skills, including the ability to review and update complex financial models
- Strong PowerPoint skills, including the ability to translate financial results into key messages
- Knowledge of SAP (ideal) and CPM management reporting tools (Hyperion, BPC, Board, etc.)
SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
