Job Purpose:
Leads the technical effort where both the problem domain and solution approach are understood. Produces the technical solution for an IT business-driven or internal project from requirements and development through to implementation, with the goal of meeting all functional and non-functional requirements. Drives stakeholder alignment, uncovers key non-functional-requirements, realigns solutions where cost efficiencies can be met, creating quality documentation, ensuring execution and adherence to solution design and overall Symcor standards. Supports the governance effort from a technical solution and adherence perspective.
Accountabilities:
- In collaboration with key stakeholders, identify and document high level technical requirements, provide direction, make recommendations regarding technology platform choice, ensuring recommendations are aligned with Symcor’s overall technology strategy and provide maximum system efficiency as well as rationalization and consolidation of technology, and critical context for downstream work estimation, engagement with vendors, etc.
- In collaboration with key stakeholders, produce detailed design which meets Symcor’s requirements and standards and business and client needs. Identify required resources and work with the Project Manager to engage the right technical resources to develop and implement the solution.
- Proactively identify gaps in the platform design and technology selection, continually assess service, application and platform health to mitigate future issues, problems and/or risk, and respond to issues to ensure the reliability and functionality of the technology/application based on business and client needs.
- Support the Senior Staff Architect in ensuring newly considered technical solution architecture complies with Symcor’s security and policy standards, Technical Reference Architecture Models (TRAMs), and technical governance policies and procedures. Recommend corrective action where required to help ensure compliance and mitigate risk. Document lessons learned throughout governance activities to help prevent future occurrences.
Requirements:
Education:
- College diploma or undergraduate university degree in a related discipline (e.g., Computer Science) or a combination of experience, education and/or training deemed to be equivalent.
Experience:
- 5+ years of IT experience.
- 4+ years of software development/infrastructure experience.
Skills:
- Knowledge of data analytics & data science.
- RDBMS experience; data modeling; query pattern optimization.
- Knowledge of automation of IT services and production systems – DevOps, RPA, Machine Learning and AI.
- Knowledge of infrastructure design (network, servers, storage, desktop).
- Knowledge of Application Platform Design.
- Knowledge of Information Security (PCI).
- Knowledge of Process improvement.
- Knowledge of Risk management.
- Working knowledge of software Development methodologies and best practices – Agile methodologies.
- Working knowledge of systems and software architecture – high availability, secure, scalable.
- Knowledge of artificial intelligence – Machine learning, Neural networks.
- Knowledge of information security standards – PCI, SOC1/2.
- Knowledge of TOGAF/Zachman/Archimate/UML.
- Knowledge of technology innovation.
- Knowledge of financial services experience in the following areas:.
- Cheque processing.
- Customer Communications.
- Document management.
- Fraud Identification/Mitigation .
- Insurance.
