The Opportunity:
The Team Lead Technology is a senior technical position, responsible for planning and leading technical aspects of solution delivery and supporting the strategic initiatives of the Senior Development Manager. They provide support and help facilitate the design, development, implementation and maintenance of the applications developed for our clients. The focus of this role will be on leading smaller teams, analyzing and prioritizing incoming requests, estimating resource needs and timelines, and executing strategic assignments from the Senior Development Manager. This role will also be responsible for the coaching, mentoring and performance evaluation of developers, as part of continuous improvement and commitment to the growth of our team.
This is a hybrid role with requirements to be on site 3 days a week, providing a balance between remote flexibility and in-person collaboration.
About The Role:
- Lead team through the Analysis & Design Phase of initiatives.
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues throughout the entire portfolio of products utilized by our strategic customers including but not limited to data transformations, third party service integrations, and front and backend technologies.
- Drive how we manage and maintain implemented solutions within a highly collaborative department.
- Lead sessions with the team to design new system components.
- Identify efficient solutions to complex requirements.
- Liaise with subject matter experts, development team, implementation support and production support staff to define technical specifications.
- Verify that architectures and designs specifications have been correctly converted into running code.
- Ensure that automated tests demonstrate correctness.
- Work with Peers, Support and Customers to diagnose challenges and issues with the product/service.
- Contribute fresh, new ideas during developer meetings and other brainstorming sessions.
- Address product defects with the team and help develop regressions tests.
- Work with the Senior Manager to discuss/aid in strategic assignments that improve overall operations of the team, for resourcing needs, timelines to complete short- and long-term projects as well as daily operational tasks.
- Work with project managers to identify and capture resource requirements.
- Collaborate with business/technical partners on product feature set and technical roadmaps.
- Contribute to backlog grooming sessions for supported products/lines of service.
- Attend Statement of Work sessions to review new items from the Front Office and provide development estimates/notional timelines.
- Work with Service Leads/platform architects to review platform health and identify opportunities for improving platform stability.
- Review Incident and Problem Record trends and ensure resolutions are prioritized for action and deployment.
- Review platform risks and currency to ensure strategies are created and executed to keep all platforms running on supported software.
- Work with the staff to identify skill gaps and establish a plan to strengthen that skill.
- Establish yourself as a subject matter expert within your peer group.
- Suggest & hold learning sessions with the team.
- Aid in the development of developers’ career growth through mentorship.
What You Need to Succeed:
Education:
- 4-year degree (preferably in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Mathematics, or similar).
Experience:
- 4+ years leading teams as a team lead.
Skill requirements
- Expertise with technologies/applications utilized by the Solution Delivery team.
- Expertise with both relational and non-relational database.
- Expertise on common development stacks (Java Spring, Node, React).
- Fluent and current in HTML5, CSS and JavaScript frameworks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A problem solver with a keen eye for detail.
- A desire to work at a large financial firm and ability to increase your financial knowledge.
- Able to engage yourself in a project and enjoy the challenges and processes involved.
- Flexible, eager, ambitious, and adaptable to change.
- Knowledge of operating systems (Microsoft, Unix, Linux).
- Project Management Methodologies: Agile (Scrum), Test Driven Development, Waterfall.
- Strong knowledge of software development life cycle.
- Passion for technology.
