The Opportunity:
Leads and/or conducts quality assurance testing of business software applications and/or smaller projects to ensure reliability, functionality, and successful implementation in accordance with the SDLC. Leads junior QA Analysts during Testing Phases and QA effort and provides coaching and mentoring to help develop their capabilities.
This is a 12 month term.
This is a hybrid role with requirements to be on site 3 days a week, providing a balance between remote flexibility and in-person collaboration.
About The Role:
- Design high-level testing approaches for smaller projects based on business and product requirements, adhering to industry and Symcor standards.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, developers, and support teams to define testing specifications.
- Recommend improvements for products and business solutions in future releases.
- Provide input during application implementation.
- Identify efficient testing solutions for all requirements.
- Develop test cases from business requirements.
- Fix product defects and create regression tests.
- Deliver accurate and timely effort estimates for change requests and small projects.
- Contribute to test strategy and planning, ensuring projects meet business and client needs.
- Identify and address quality issues, risks, and barriers to test execution promptly.
- Complete required documentation clearly and accurately (e.g., test strategies, test plans).
- Provide regular QA project status updates.
- Support continuous improvement in QA processes to deliver reliable solutions efficiently.
- Recommend test automation and industry-standard tools, processes, and methodologies (e.g., Agile).
- Identify process gaps and suggest improvements.
- Coach and mentor junior Quality Analysts by delegating tasks, explaining concepts, and reviewing work to ensure quality and adherence to best practices.
What You Need to Succeed:
Education:
- College diploma or undergraduate university degree in a related discipline (e.g., Computer Science) or a combination of experience, education and/or training deemed to be equivalent.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience with automated regression test tools and building and maintaining the automated test scripts.
- Typically has 5-10 years of testing experience in a QA environment.
Skill requirements
- Proven history or writing and maintaining test cases, test plans and test scripts.
- Excellent comprehension of QA process and methodologies and Software Development Life Cycle.
- Excellent knowledge in MS Word, MS Project, MS Excel and Visio.
