What can you expect?
The Housekeeping Supervisor provides an outstanding guest experience by overseeing all Housekeeping functions at the Sunshine Mountain Lodge, and at time, in other areas of the Resort. This role is focused on cleanliness and organization, implementing quality assurance standards, overseeing a team of attendants, and ensuring a top-quality work product for guests. The Executive Housekeeper reports to the Hotel Manager and works alongside all Sunshine Mountain Lodge departments, along with other maintenance and operations departments at the Resort, and third party contracted services.
This job might be right for you if you think you would really enjoy:
- Performing all duties and responsibilities of a Housekeeping attendant, room checker, and houseperson, and overseeing the work and actions of the Housekeeping team, maintaining high operating standards.
- Training the Housekeeping team on systems and standard operating procedures. Developing and adhering to standard housekeeping procedures, ensuring guests have a consistent and great first and last impression, and are appreciate of the product they receive each time they visit the Ski Resort.
- Developing and maintaining positive, respectful working relationships with team, and other departments.
- Setting expectations early on, and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, service, and health and safety.
- Assisting SML management with guest feedback and identifying corrections and solutions.
- Overseeing the Sunshine Mountain Lodge Linen Program.
Administrative and Reporting Responsibilities
- Timely completion of documentation, e.g. employee training, scheduled and on-the-spot inspections, quality assurance audits, budgets, checklists.
- Coordinating work of external contractors, when required.
- Conducting regular inventory, ensuring supplies are well-stocked.
- Maintaining effective schedules and properly assigning work to meet business needs.
- Conducting performance reviews, providing support, coaching, feedback and corrective action, where necessary.
- Leading the way with motivation during busy periods, developing and implementing recognition and incentive programs, and maintaining effective department communications.
- Adhering to and ensuring staff follow company standards, e.g. Employee Handbook, Grooming Policy.
- Timely and accurate reporting of incidents, deficiencies, and unusual conditions to appropriate personnel.
Other duties may be requested and assigned from time to time.
And you have:
- Above all, this role requires a candidate to understand the importance of the Housekeeping team and function and how it relates back to the overall success of the Ski Resort and Sunshine Mountain Lodge.
- Program certification in Hospitality is preferred, but not required. A combination of training and equivalent experience will be considered.
- Previous similar work experience, preferably in a leadership role (2+ years), is required.
- Valid CPR and First Aid is an asset, but not required.
- Able to use Microsoft Office products, inventory ordering, stock control, and online employee systems.
- Effectively communicate in English, both written and verbally, and in a confidential capacity.
- Maintain professional conduct when acting as a company representative and leader, on and off duty.
- Willing and able to perform all duties and department tasks, and able to see areas of improvement.
- Proven ability to lead a team, self-motivated, possessing good time management skills.
- Positive, mature, and friendly attitude, along with being neat, alert, punctual, and dependable.
- Prepared to work flexible schedule, e.g. weekends, holidays, nights, extended hours.
- Calm under pressure and patient, able to adapt and work well in a fast-paced environment.
Additional considerations:
- Employees must always be of a sound mind, exhibit good judgment, and report to work fit for duty.
- This position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, occasional heavy lifting, constant trunk rotation/bending, kneeling, squatting, and lifting objects with other team members’ assistance.
- This position deals with confidential, personal information. Discretion and adherence to best privacy practices are required at all times.
- Some required uniform pieces are provided. Candidates must be prepared and wear appropriate footwear, gloves, layers, etc. for the conditions of an indoor/outdoor role at a ski area.
