WHAT YOU WILL DO

As a Field Inspector, you will have a pivotal role in our appraisal services. Your responsibilities will include conducting thorough site inspections, gathering essential data and collaborating with others to provide accurate information for Appraisal Reports (value estimates), Insurance Appraisals (cost estimates) or Risk Management Reports (consulting services). You’ll work with a diverse range of buildings, from private sector properties to public sector facilities, capturing details on buildings, furnishings, equipment, measurements and photographs. You will get experience across many sectors including multi-unit dwellings, commercial, municipal, and education. You may also assist with report creation, cost data research and costing. This is a home-based position and requires 30-40% travel, primarily in Western Canada.

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

You are curious, with a desire to drive results and exceed goals with an interest in the risk and/or appraisal industry. You possess strong attention to detail and excellent observational skills, ensuring thorough and accurate inspections. You are capable of working independently and manage your time effectively, demonstrating reliability and efficiency. You are naturally client-focused and committed to providing high levels of service to meet our Brand Promise. You can easily manage multiple projects and have demonstrated proficiency with MS Office, digital tools and databases for data collection and reporting. You are able and willing to travel and have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.

 

You have the following credentials:

  -  Full proficiency in reading, writing, and oral interactions in English. Proficiency in additional language(s) is an asset;

  -  Post-secondary education;

  -  Field inspection experience related to buildings and improvements for costing purposes; and/or land and facilities inspections related to risk assessment purposes;

  -  Understanding of common building structures;

  -  Knowledge of NFPA standards and relevant fire and building codes is an asset;

  -  Specialized skills in trades or fire protection and prevention fields are considered assets;

  -  Understanding building design and ability to read blueprints are assets; and

  -  A combination of education, knowledge and experience will be considered.
