About the Role:
The Senior Director, Regional Development is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving strategic growth and development excellence within a Master Franchise structure. This individual will oversee market development, franchisee development support, and business expansion efforts across the region.
The role requires a deep understanding of franchise development, market entry and expansion strategies, and operational alignment, with a strong emphasis on supporting Master Franchisees in achieving sustainable growth. This position combines strategic leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and hands-on support to help Master Franchisees optimize market penetration, operational efficiency, and profitability
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Regional Development Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive regional development plans aligned with global growth objectives, focusing on market expansion and long-term sustainability. Identify and prioritize growth opportunities by analyzing market trends, competitive landscapes, and demographic data. Provide strategic guidance to Master Franchisees on site selection, portfolio optimization, and market development initiatives

Master Franchisee Support: Serve as the primary development partner for Master Franchisees, ensuring alignment with corporate standards and brand guidelines. Support Master Franchisees in executing growth plans, including new store openings, relocations, remodels, and closures. Collaborate with Master Franchisees to build robust pipelines of qualified sub-franchisees, ensuring adherence to operational and financial requirements

Market Expansion Excellence: Conduct market feasibility studies to evaluate potential for new locations or markets within the region. Oversee and analyze end-to-end site development processes for key MFs to develop insights and opportunities to improve and drive change at each step of the development process. Use data and mapping tools to provide recommendations on growth strategies, such as territory planning, clustering models, and urban vs. suburban expansion.

Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with Master Franchisees, sub-franchisees, and local development teams. Act as a trusted advisor to franchise leaders, providing insights and solutions to address regional challenges. Collaborate with external stakeholders, including regional strategic vendors, landlord partners, brokers, and related entities to support expansion efforts

Business Model and Financial Performance: Ensure that all development activities contribute to the financial success of the region, including revenue growth and cost efficiency. Monitor and report franchisees store level performance and provide actionable feedback and support to address gaps. Collaborate with finance teams to develop investment models and ROI analyses for proposed development initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Operations, and Supply Chain, to ensure seamless integration of new locations into the broader network. Align with global development teams to share best practices and adapt corporate initiatives to regional needs. Lead and contribute to regional planning sessions, ensuring alignment across all levels of the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Administration, Management, Real Estate or similar field preferred.
- 10+ years’ relevant experience with a minimum of 8 being in QSR or similar industry.
- At least 6 years of supervisory experience.
- Proven experience supporting Master Franchise or franchise-driven business models, with a strong ability to align global strategies to local execution.
- Leverage bilingual skills (e.g., Japanese, Korean, or Mandarin) to communicate effectively with franchisees and stakeholders in the region.
- Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity when navigating business relationships, negotiations, and regional market dynamics.
- Strong understanding of consumer trends and preferences in the foodservice, hospitality, or retail industries.
- Ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships, including franchisees, partners, and external agencies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
- Proven experience in market analysis, site development, and real estate negotiations.
- Strong understanding of financial modeling, P&L management, and investment analysis.
- Proven ability to lead teams, mentor talent, and collaborate across functions and regions.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on achieving results.
- Ability to manage multiple relationships and projects simultaneously.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and resourceful.
- A team player with a collaborative mindset.
- Willingness to travel frequently to meet franchise partners and oversee operations.
