Maintenance Technician (Mechanical and Electrical) 

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for daily machine repairs, including CNC machines and proper corrective actions. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:  

Education 

  • Post-Secondary education in electrical or mechanical related course; and 
  • Technical Trades Training. 

 Years of Experience

  • 2+ years maintenance lead experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting.

Working Conditions 

  • Work may involve some exposure unusual elements, such as extreme temperature, dirt, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and loud noises; 
  • On site work environment involves some exposure to hazards of physical risks that require knowledge of an adherence to basic safety procedure and precautions; 
  • Work environment requires wearing PPE;  

 Intermediate Level

  • Understanding Mechanical/ Electrical Pneumatics
  • Understanding of Progressive and Preventative Maintenance; 
  • Experience in pneumatics, mechanics and electromechanical repairs; 
  • Must be able to read electrical and mechanical schematics; 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; 
  • Communication with coworkers daily by telephone, email and in person; 
  • Computer skills using MS Office products; 
  • Fork Truck, Working at Heights and Skyjack license is required (the company provides training); 
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs; 
  • Discretion and tact to handle confidential information;
  • Demonstrate State's core values and work in a team environment; and 
  • Must be ale to walk and stand for long periods. 

Job Specific Duties

  • Troubleshooting CNC Machines
  • Responsible for all building maintenance; 
  • Repair or replace control devices such as switches, photo eyes, proximity sensors, contractors, motor starters etc. as needed; 
  • Perform work order repairs, inspection, adjustments, and calibrations; 
  • Use exceptional problem-solving skills to make quick and effective decisions; 
  • Able to design and fabricate small repair parts; 
  • Responsible for preventative and predictive maintenance activities on weekly and daily work; 
  • Maintain and update Down-Time Tracker and predictive and preventative maintenance schedule;
  • Notify Production of extended repairs or downtime;
  • Ensure work order and preventative maintenance documentation processes are in place and administered; 
  • Provide solutions to technical problems and recommendations for improvements in production activities; 
  • Create and secure a safe work environment; 
  • Proactively maintain a safe working environment focused on prevention and ensuring continued compliance with Occupation Health and Safety legislation; 
  • Participates in plant health, safety and environment programs; and 
  • Any other tasks assigned by the Maintenance Manager of Director of Operations. 

Hours of Operation 

Monday to Friday 
6:30 AM - 4:00 PM
