General Machine Operator

General Machine Operator 

Reporting directly to the Production Manager on all matters. The General Machine Operator operates glass equipment (automatic and manual) and moves material/product to achieve the required output. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 

Education 

- High School Diploma or equivalent 

Years of Experience 

- Prevous experience in the manufacturing or glass window wall industry is an asset 

Working Conditions 

- Factory plant environment; 
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards of physical risks that require knowledge of an adherence to basic safety procedures 
- Work environment requires wearing PPE; safety footwear, safety glasses and hearing protection;
- Ability to lift p to 50 lbs 
- Promote health and safety in the plant; and
- Felxible to work approved overtime as required. 

Junior Level 

- Good communication skills; 
- Have a high level of social interaction while working with other production staff and supervisors;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team as required; 
- Punctual, and reliable; and
- Strong attention to detail and ability to read a tape measure 

Job Specific Duties 

- Operate equipment safely in accordance with relevant legislation and plant policies, procedures and standars;
- Conduct regular quality audits on product and process to ensure compliance with interanl and customer quality specifications;
- Ensure daily preventative maintenance activities are completed as per schedule;
- Set-up, operate and adjust machine or equipment as per the production schedule
- Record productivity, scrap and downtime and report to supervisor daily; 
- Ensure work area is clean and organized and free from obstructions;
- Provide assitance and training to junior operator as required; 
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area all times and
- Any other duties assigned by the Plant Manager.
