BSO - PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER
Position: Personal Support Worker – BSO Temporary Full Time
Home: Southbridge Pinecrest
Location: Plantagenet, Ontario
Southbridge Care Homes are currently looking to add one a caring, passionate, and enthusiastic Behavioral Support PSW. Reporting to the Director of Care and Assistant Director of Care our BSO – PSW will contribute by sharing behavioral support to the residents, demonstrate knowledge with dementia care and mental health issues. An individual will be responsible for coordinating with multiple stakeholders for the development of a person-center person center philosophy of care for the residents.
As a BSO – PSW, you will be accountable for…
- Contribute to delivering person-centered care by promoting the abilities and self esteem of the residents, develop strategies to promote optimal quality of life for the residents with the responsive behaviors.
- Conduct assessments using various assessment tools which describes behaviors of residents including observational behaviors, identifying behavioral risks, and identify caregiver strategies.
- Work with the nursing staff to ensure the plan of care is regulated with responsive behaviors of residents in regard to the staff providing care and mitigating risks.
- Communicate with the external stakeholder and management team to identify the risks associated with responsive behavior.
- Demonstrate participation in quality improvement activities and provide monthly reports.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to the staff to ensure collaboration of care and services for the responsive behavior.
- Conduct resident care reviews and attend quality program meetings including the Professional Advisory Committee
- Participate in the staff development programs and seminars and require attending ongoing training to support skills in managing residents with responsive behaviors.
- Assist in tasks by considering policies of the home and the behavioral support Ontario project.
- Provide an excellent customer service to all the stakeholders and assist in the administrative duties of the home.
- Other duties as required.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:

- Valid PSW certificate from an accredited program.
- Minimum two years of experience required in the similar role, preferably in the Long-Term Care setting, with comprehensive knowledge of duties.
- Bilingual in English and French is required.
- A strong problem solver with a passion for caring for seniors.
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team, to prioritize tasks in order of urgency.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and comprehension skills.
