Position Summary:
Reporting to the Distribution Centre Manager, the Distribution Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day activities in the shipping office and in the shipping/receiving floor during night shift (8.30:00 pm to 5:30 am). As part of the Distribution Centre’s leadership team, supports building and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide direct supervision to associates on picking shipments (AS400) and loading/offloading of trucks.
- Oversee administrative staff (printing pick slips, inventory adjustments, invoicing orders, making appointments etc.)
- Daily communication with Distribution Team (Hourly & Salaried)
- Responsible for meeting and reporting on daily targets (KPIs)
- Take initiative and exercise timely and good judgment in day-to-day business decisions.
- Ensure overall compliance and adherence to Health and Safety policies.
- Ensure adherence to delivery standards, efficiencies and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that all inventory items are properly identified and readily accessible.
- Manage drivers’ delivery schedules and hours worked.
- Establish and maintain positive customer relationships, resolving customer issues.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety rules and regulations to minimize industrial injuries and meet regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
- A background in logistics related activities (shipping, receiving, transportation);
- Working knowledge of AS400 and pallet control experience or other system an asset.
- Ability to operate in an open office environment that is fast paced and fluid in nature.
- High level of self-motivation and initiative; ability to work well under pressure.
- Previous experience leading a team.
- Working experience in a unionized environment.
- Availability to work in the night shift.
