ABOUT THE ROLE
The Creative Intern, LA is responsible for providing national administrative support for the Membership Creative team that has a primary focus on the recruitment and retention of SOCAN members. This is a highly administrative role that will require you to assist in report writing, member advances, database, and guest-list management along with proactive research on Canadian music creators and publishers.
WHAT YOU’LL DO / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead “online” recruitment research of Spotify, Apple Music, blogs, YouTube, Soundcloud, and other music platforms, with focus on Canadian songwriters, producers, artists, composers in LA/US market
- Accompanying Creative Executive in LA at member shows or industry events around LA
- SOCAN LA Studio booking/scheduling, opening and locking-up each day, and preparing for member use and the next day’s operations
- SOCAN LA Office general maintenance including taking out garbage and recycling, mail pick-up, restocking, setting security codes, and providing gate entry to members.
- Admin tasks such as data entry, spreadsheet management, and basic email communications
- Assisting and supporting on days of events/workshops/events and song camps
- Setting up SOCAN branding and merch at various SOCAN-hosted events
- Keep track of SOCAN member shows/events happening in LA and adding to schedule
- Assist with planning and execution of SOCAN No 1 Award Presentation lunches/dinners including booking, scheduling these into calendar.
- General administration and other team related tasks as required
- Work with Creative Executive in SOCAN LA office as mentor
WHAT YOU WILL BRING / QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Currently enrolled in post secondary education
- Available to work 35 hours a week, May through August
- Ability to manage workload effectively including planning, organizing, prioritizing and meeting deadlines
- Strong communication (both written and verbal) skills
- Dynamic, energetic, and self-motivated
- Excellent research skills and ability to identify useful information
- Proactive worker with a curiosity to seek out new information
- Experience with the MS suite of tools (Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Entrepreneurial spirit
- Knowledge and interest in working in the Music Industry
