Science North is seeking a dynamic and innovative STEM Specialist – Education to design and develop impactful school programs for delivery in the science-center, on the road, or virtually, for students across Northern Ontario.
The successful applicant will work collaboratively with the STEM Education team to ensure that the programs delivered by Science North are consistent, of the highest quality, and have effective branding that promotes Science North and its vision. This role involves continuous improvement based on feedback and evolving needs, requiring a creative, detail-oriented, and collaborative professional dedicated to excellence in STEM education.
Key Responsibilities
- On-Site Program Development: Work with the Operations team to develop and maintain school programs for delivery at Science North and Dynamic Earth
- Outreach Program Development: Work with the Outreach team to develop and maintain school programs for delivery through outreach
- E-Workshop Development: Work with the Education team to develop and maintain school programs for virtual delivery
- Program Review and Organization: Review existing programs, create a plan for program renewals, and organize all school program content into an easy to find system
- School Program Branding: Ensure that all school programs have consistent branding and structure, regardless of their format
- School Program Training: Provide ongoing training and coaching to delivery teams to ensure high-quality delivery of existing and new school programs
- Education Support: Support the Education team with development of content related to SHSM, Teacher Workshops, the All-Access Pass, and other education initiatives
- Program Delivery: Be familiar with current school programs to be able to support occasional school program delivery in the science-center, on the road, or virtually
What you bring
- Formal background in a STEM field or equivalent experience
- Experience in curriculum design or educational program development
- Strong facilitation and training skills with a passion for STEM education
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities
- Proficiency in digital learning tools and multimedia content creation
- Ability to adapt and respond to changing program needs
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English Fluency in French will be considered an asset.
