$47,000 - $57,000 per year, full-time permanent, generous benefits package

Our Informal Programs team creates memories and experiences for thousands of children each year.

Science North is looking to recruit a STEM Specialist, Informal Programs to join the Sudbury Education and Northern Programs team in a full-time, permanent capacity.


The STEM Specialist is a key member of the Education and Northern Programs team, leading and supporting programs and initiatives for Northeastern Ontario. As the successful candidate you will work with children and a variety of audiences, actively communicate and promote Science North programs, and deliver quality, educational and informal science experiences both in Sudbury and on the road.

 

Position highlights:

  • Develop and deliver informal science programs for Sudbury and throughout Northeastern Ontario including; summer science camps, PA Day programs, March break and holiday camps along with other workshops and events
  • Work with a team of marketing professionals to promote and market programs
  • Lead and direct venue rentals and other logistics for multiple communities and teams, including travel teams
  • Lead and monitor registrations and oversee registrations and participant inquiries
  • Recruit, train and coach a diverse team of camp deliverers
  • Ensure health and safety of all participants and staff
  • Monitor, evaluate, obtain and act on participant feedback
  • Write scripts, signage and content for programs and specialty workshops
  • Liaise with parents/guardians, respond to inquiries
  • Manage and control area expenditures and submit financial reporting
  • Proactively identify needs/issues and problem solve/establish solutions, address complaints/concerns
  • Use your exceptional interpersonal skills to foster relationships stakeholders throughout Northern Ontario 
  • Compile reports, maintain programming information and other required information

 

Qualifications:

  • Formal background in a STEM field or equivalent experience in science, recreation & leisure, education or another related field
  • Extensive experience working with children and a variety of audiences
  • Demonstrated experience in program development and delivery
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with fun and positive attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and French - non-negotiable
  • Valid G driver’s license reflecting a 3-year clean driving abstract, non-negotiable
  • A strong work ethic and a passion for working in a fast-paced ever-changing environment
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout Northern Ontario, at times solo, including evening and weekend travel/work 
  • Demonstrated organizational, planning and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple and potentially conflicting priorities
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Exemplary aptitude for problem-solving and resourcefulness

 

Compensation Highlights:

  • Full-time permanent opportunity
