Manager – Talent Acquisition & Engagement

$53,700 - $68,000 per year, full-time permanent, generous benefits package

 

As Canada’s second largest science centre, Science North operates a multi-faceted operation in Sudbury, Ontario, along with a thriving International Sales business and bases of operations in Thunder Bay and Sault Ste. Marie along with national touring operations. Our people are what drives the success of the organization and what make all the moving pieces come together seamlessly. Our Human Resources and Organization Development team work together to grow, develop and serve our greatest resource. We are looking to add to our team with the addition of a Manager of Talent Acquisition and Engagement.

 

Under the supervision of the Director of Human Resources and IT, you will work alongside a team of professionals to navigate a diverse and exciting portfolio. In this role, you will lead the planning, implementation and oversight of recruiting, benefits, employee engagement/recognition and health & safety. In order to be successful, you will ideally have a degree in a related discipline and 3-5 years’ experience working within a similar portfolio. As part of the team, you will also support numerous other initiatives and programs in our highly collaborative team. Our culture is people-centric and you will be hands-on, working directly with our internal and external partners and staff, both one-on-one and as part of teams. Position highlights:

  • Manage recruitment needs across the whole organization, make recommendations on best practices for advertising, candidate searching
  • Write, edit and adjust job postings for a multitude of positions
  • Manage recruitment branding hubs
  • Lead employee engagement and recognition events and programs and support cross-functional teams in development and execution of similar initiatives
  • Lead employment grant cycles, application, implementation and reporting
  • Manage employee benefits and pension programs, respond to concerns and provide information and education
  • Work in conjunction with the Manager of Risk and cross-functional teams to manage health and safety needs, concerns and initiatives
  • Manage WSIB reporting and follow-ups
  • Develop and deliver metrics around staffing and recruitment
  • Support staff in navigating necessary HR systems in collaboration with team members

 

Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary degree and/or diploma that lends to the position
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience working at advanced levels in the listed portfolio areas
  • Knowledge and experience with employment standards, occupational health and safety and other related legislation
  • Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving, planning, and communicating
  • Demonstrated ability to work seamlessly with a large team of stakeholders with a service excellence standard
  • A valid G driver's license in good standing with a 3-year clean driving abstract
  • Computer skills with proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience with HRIS systems considered an asset
