RVA’ S Niagara office is looking for an experienced municipal engineer who is interested in leading projects varying in scope and size related to roads, water distribution systems, sanitary sewage collection systems, flood protection, stormwater management, and storm drainage systems, including planning and design of new facilities, as well as optimization and rehabilitation of existing systems.

 

Duties:

 

Your initial primary duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Build, manage and lead the corporate Municipal practice in Niagara, developing, tracking, and contributing to the annual business plan and multi-year strategy for growth. 
  • Lead and participate in Business Development initiatives and operational growth for RVA Municipal within the Niagara and Hamilton area, and support other geographic areas as required.
  • Liaise with existing and develop future clients, support pursuits and proposals, and monitor budgets and schedules.
  • Manage tasks, team, schedules, budgets, cost control processes and project work procedures. Identify and manage project issues and risks and, if needed, enhance resolution or actions; collaborate with other offices across Canada.
  • Project manage and/or technically support the design team and oversee projects / project performance.  
  • Prepare and/or review detail design calculations, reports, technical specifications, and proposals.
  • Provide input to the development of engineering budgets and schedules to meet requirements.
  • Ensure projects meet the professional needs of RVA and Quality standards and participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
  • Liaise with client, suppliers, regulatory agencies, utility companies and contractors; represent RVA in professional associations and agencies.
  • Mentoring and coaching project teams including technical and field staff.
  • Other duties as assigned and appropriate for this position.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 15 plus years progressive experience in municipal engineering with at least 10 years working in a consultancy.
  • P.Eng., or eligibility for registration in Ontario.
  • Project management (PMP) designation is an asset.
  • Possess a strong ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with staff and clients.
  • Experience or aptitude for meeting timelines and budgets, proposal writing, client development and other skills appropriate to consulting.
  • Proven capabilities in writing reports and other technical documents.
  • Familiar with local design and construction standards and requirements for permits and approvals.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative, team environment.
  • Extensive experience providing strategic advisory services related to municipal engineering projects and clients is required.
