HEAVY DUTY OR AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC - Journeyman or 3rd Yr Apprentice
The Opportunity

Working in collaboration with the Supervisor and other teammates, you will work hands on and be responsible for:
Maintenance of:
- Road Vehicles (plow truck, busses, construction equipment, crew cabs)
- Tracked and earth moving vehicles (snowmobiles, side by sides, backhoe)
- Snow cats and implements
- Ski Lift and Chalet Auxiliary Power Units
- Hand and shop tools and equipment.
Additionally:
- Answer radios or telephones promptly to ensure open communication to vehicle maintenance department
- If you are an automotive mechanic a willingness to train to be a heavy duty mechanic is preferred
- Ensure all work orders are submitted fully completed and accurate
- Ensure shop area is kept clean and shop tools returned to their proper locations
- Supervise apprentices to ensure safe work practices and efficiency while progressing through the apprenticeship
- Assist with snow removal when required
- Assist in emergency situations
- Assist in the monitoring of operator equipment log sheets and reviewing comments
- Assist with the proper training of equipment/vehicle operators as required
- Assist with the proper use of the fuel dispensing equipment and the training of operators/drivers in the use of this equipment, recording of fuel transactions etc.
- Inventory auditing duties (seasonal)
- Point out any safety concerns which would put an employee in an unsafe situation.
- All other duties as assigned
The Ideal Candidate
Qualifications:
- Journeyman Certification in Heavy Duty or Automotive Mechanic trade (apprentices considered)
- Valid class 5 driver’s license with Air Endorsement Certificate
- Clear driver's abstract
- Any other specialized training in hydraulics, electrical, etc.
- Ski industry experience an asset
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly
- Cheerful, outgoing personality; demonstrated temperament and disposition for highly
stressful situations - Demonstrated knowledge of risk management principles
- Physically fit.

- Ability to stay calm and work efficiently in stressful situations
- Must have basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Internet)
- Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written
- Demonstrated ability to work in a safe and efficient manner while being aware of all hazards in the work environment
- Able to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
- Capable of working inside or outside, ability to multi-task
- First Aid training is an asset
- Ski Industry experience is an asset.
