Role Overview 

 

The primary function of the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician is performing duties related to inspecting, decontaminating, testing, packaging, wrapping, sterilizing, assembling, decanting, setting up, and handling complex instruments utilized for patient care in our operating rooms and other areas of Rejuvenation This role is also accountable for ensuring all guests receive the “U” experience.

Role Objectives  

 

  • Sort contaminated surgical instruments in preparation for sterilization, disassembly, packaging, and manual/mechanical washing 
  • Perform quality inspections of instruments after washing and sterilization for functionality, reassembly, and cleanliness according to manufacturer’s instructions, Ministry of Health guidelines, College of Physicians and Surgeons requirements, and CSA standards. 
  • Perform clean assembly processes such as safe transportation cart decanting, clean return put-away, supply put-away and case cart picking.  
  • Perform decontamination processes such as dismantling soiled carts, cleaning instruments, washing case carts and plastic ware with precaution 
  • Adhere to quality standard procedures when populating and collecting all required documentation (electronic and hard copy) 
  • Ensure the release of sterilized loads based on quality assurance testing and processes.  
  • Monitor surgical supplies and replace stock as per protocol. 
  • Responsible for quality assurance of equipment and liase with Clinical Operations Manager as needed. 
  • Perform other duties as requested by management and supervisory team.

Role Qualifications  

 

  • Successful completion of a recognized Medical Device Reprocessing Technician course or similar 
  • 1 – 3 years of proven Medical Device Reprocessing experience 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal 
  • Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality. 
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills. 
  • Ability to work as a team and independently. 
  • Flexible availability, willingness to work weekends and evenings.
