Role Overview

Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will play a key role in the performance of the accounting team. This role will be responsible for the accounts payable function, tracking and maintenance of vendors, expense reporting and other related transaction streams. Additionally, this role will provide an opportunity to leverage your skills and experience by contributing to various process improvement initiatives which will include new software implementations, purchase order process implementation, data strategy and other ad hoc projects. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and the accounts payable lifecycle.

This role will be based full-time out of our Calgary office.

Role Objectives

The Accounting Specialist's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Ensuring vendor transactions are recorded accurately and efficiently
• Maintaining vendor Information to facilitate various reporting requirements
• Ownership of Aged AP reporting for all entities, including monthly reconciliations and weekly payment runs
• Supporting the implementation and oversight of a purchase order process, Including related software
• Generating and Interpreting reporting to support various financial analyses
• Ensuring accurate completion of various monthly account reconciliations
• Liasing with Operations and other teams within the organization on the status of vendors and transactions
• Supporting various Initiatives to either improve efficiency of or automate various components of the finance function
• Opportunity to contribute to various data tracking and reporting initiatives
• Contributing to a team-first environment by supporting fellow team members and contributing to a positive work environment
• Assisting with audit requests from various bodies
• Occasional travel may be required between clinics
• Other duties as required

Role Qualifications 

• 5+ years of experience in a similar role
• An undergraduate degree in Accounting or a similar field is an asset
• Experience with Quickbooks Online is an asset
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to adapt to a quickly changing environment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
