Role Overview
The primary function of the Medical Team Lead is to provide leadership and support to the medical team and ensure the clinic runs smoothly and efficiently. The Medical Team Lead is also responsible for managing medical supply inventory, staff scheduling, and fielding questions and concerns from the team.
Role Objectives
The Medical Team Lead’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coach and motivate medical team to meet and exceed goals and targets
- Oversee and delegate team members to assist with Medical Device Reprocessing of instruments
- Ensure the U-Experience is being well executed on the floor
- Work with other team lead(s) to effectively schedule all nursing staff to ensure consistent coverage throughout clinic days
- Coordinate daily coffee and lunch breaks for medical staff
- Communicate effectively with Operations Team Lead throughout shift to ensure fluidity between teams
- Review MedAccess billing for physicians as needed
- Expert user of EMR system, resource for staff inquiries
- Delegating daily housekeeping and miscellaneous tasks to medical team
- Ensuring autoclaving is completed on daily basis by medical staff
- Support all nursing staff throughout shifts and address questions and concerns as needed
- Manage staffing levels on a day-to-day basis, adjust with management when required
- Perform necessary administrative tasks
- Track and control medical inventory, or delegating tasks to reliable medical team member
- Ordering of medical supplies for location
- Ensuring the rooms are completely stocked to physicians needs
- Cross checking received lab results with pathology tracking sheet
- Conduct probationary and annual reviews with staff
- Set up and coordinate any training for medical staff (annual CPR recertification etc.)
- Maintain product and service knowledge to effectively educate clients and staff
- Schedule, motivate, and supervise staff members to achieve highest results possible
- Follow company-wide disciplinary practices to manage employees as needed, ensure appropriate communication and documentation is kept
- Effectively balance the needs of the company and the desires of the employees
- Minimize the risk of theft throughout the organization by monitoring inventory closely
- Help implement new policies and improve current clinic practices
- Work with Human Resources to assist with the recruitment process for new team members
- Additional duties as required by leadership
Role Qualifications
- LPN Diploma from an accredited institution
- Current registration with applicable provincial licensing body
- Current CPR certification
- 5+ years private or public practical nursing experience
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience
- Previous experience in dermatology required
- Experience with MedAccess an asset
- Ability to multitask and delegate
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
