Sales and Marketing Manager

DIRECT REPORTS: Broker Support Coordinator, Marketing Specialist, Account Manager
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
This position will be responsible for managing a team of marketing and broker support individuals and will work alongside the VP of Strategic Excellence in the development and execution of the marketing and broker strategy for the company. This position involves assisting with the development of the company’s distribution business strategy, acquisition, development, growth and maintenance of our business portfolio and brokerage relations for the company. This individual is integral to our direct broker customer and represents the organization and departments on delivering corporate objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:
Broker Relations and Portfolio Management:
- Work alongside the VP of Strategic Excellence and key stakeholders to plan and execute both short-term and long-term goals of Red River Mutual.
- Research and benchmark market data in relation to products and services against key competitors and make necessary recommendations to the distribution strategy.
- Identify opportunities for, and assist in the review of, non-contracted geographies, territories, and brokerages to achieve growth and production plans.
- Reinforce and manage continued growth and development of relationships with existing and new partnerships across Canada.
- Develop and implement strategic product distribution plans to drive growth and profitability, while overseeing the product mix and lifecycle to ensure a cohesive and profitable business portfolio.
- Develop and oversee the overall broker strategy and broker training plans for the organization.
- Monitor portfolio performance to ensure alignment with organizational values and objectives.
- Maintain an exceptional understanding of the changing marketplace, products, brokerages, and competitors, and use that information internally to drive change within the organization.
- Collaborate effectively with the functional departments and other key stakeholders to achieve mutual plans and goals, such as:
- Revenue leads and generation.
- Lead new product launches, and training sessions,
- Market intelligence on new product wordings and requirement
Marketing:
- Oversee the comprehensive broker marketing plan, including co-branded marketing activities and efforts to support sales targets.
- Collaborate with other departments on all marketing initiatives.
- Work alongside the VP of Strategic Excellence in finalizing budget numbers for the department and track and monitor the budget monthly.
Leadership:
- To motivate, coach and hold accountable employees under your direction in the business.
- Administer timely performance reviews, assessing needs for education, rewards and setting direction.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Post-secondary degree in business, marketing, or related field
- CIP Designation or actively pursuing will be considered an asset
- 10+ years of insurance experience.
- Ability to travel approximately 30%-50% of the time within Canada.
- Experience in business plan development, execution, and reporting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong presenter and facilitator skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, planning and task prioritization ability.
- Able to work both independently and as a team
- Strong analysis, critical thinking, & problem-solving skills.
