Join our R&D Process Development team in a hands-on position where you will work with semiconductor manufacturing tools, execute advanced data and root cause analyses to develop novel techniques that advance our technology development. Our team is comprised of engineers, scientists, and technicians who are driven to use a scientific approach to identify practical solutions applicable in industrial environments. This team focuses on the development, fabrication and characterization of the company’s radiation detector products, specifically for both semiconductor fab and flip chip bonding processes.
You will assume a key role on the team in either or both of the core focus areas. Responsibilities will include a set of the activities listed below as fits the team’s needs and candidate’s background:
- Developing and optimizing semiconductor fabrication processes such as dicing, lapping, polishing, deposition, photolithography and etching
- Developing and optimizing semiconductor flip chip bonding processes such as Stencil Printing, Stud bumping, Flip Chip attach and Solder reflow.
- Designing and executing Design of Experiments (DOE), conducting statistical analysis of data for process optimization and generating clear, concise reports and presentations
- Organizing process runs and fabricating sensors to execute experiments, gain process statistics and to fulfill prototype deliverables
- Documenting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for various device fabrication processes and material/device characterization instruments
- Developing process automation solutions to improve process quality and reduce process cost
- Performing failure analysis and troubleshooting of non-conforming manufactured product to determine root cause as required
- Providing support for training and certification of Technicians
- Conducting performance testing of materials and devices and providing feedback to crystal growth and product manufacturing
- Driving the tech transfer function between R&D and Manufacturing
Required Experience
- Demonstrable hands-on experience with processes noted above
- A background in process/product development and engineering
- Demonstrable experience with structured root cause analysis methods (5 Whys, Is/Is Not, etc.)
Preferred Experience
- Five or more years of industrial experience
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Experimental Design experience using ANOVA and/or DOE
- Project management experience
Skills/Additional requirements
- An understanding of Semiconductor Physics or relevant Material Properties
- A very hands-on and innovative individual that works well in a team environment
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and be able to work with limited supervision
- Demonstrated positive attitude and self-motivation
Required Education
- Master’s or PhD degree in mechanical engineering, nanotechnology, material science, electrical engineering, physics, applied physics, chemical engineering, chemistry, or other scientific field with relevant industry experience.
Salary Range: $80,000 - $97,000 CAD

It is common for ranges to span multiple levels in order to attract top talent across experience levels. It is uncommon to be hired at the top of the range; however, in exceptional cases where a candidate's skills and expertise significantly exceed the role's requirements, we may consider offering a higher salary.
