Lead, OHS
The Position
We are seeking an experienced OHS professional to lead a team of safety advisors while generalists supporting a key client’s Contractor Safety Management Program. This role requires a balance of hands-on safety expertise, leadership, and strategic client engagement in a high-profile, multi-jurisdictional environment.
The ideal candidate will bring a depth of maturity, professionalism, and consulting experience, with a strong understanding of both technical OHS practices and the leadership skills necessary to develop a high-performing team.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor safety advisors and generalists, conducting 1:1 check-ins, performance reviews, and development planning
- Manage team workload to align with client priorities and contract requirements.
- Collaborate with RAM and client leadership to develop annual objectives, strategic safety initiatives, and program improvement plans.
- Act as a strategic advisor to the Director of Corporate Health & Safety, overseeing Contractor Safety Management Program (CSMP) goals, KPIs, and continuous improvement plans.
- Liaise with Contract Owners and project stakeholders to assess operational risks and develop site-specific mitigation strategies.
- Provide subject matter expertise in support of policy implementation, contractor oversight, and high-risk work reviews.
- Contribute to proposal development, presentations, business growth, and corporate safety initiatives.
- Design and deliver in-house and client focused engaging OHS training programs, procedures, orientations, and awareness sessions.
- Support audits, investigations, and compliance efforts, ensuring regulatory and client requirements are met.
Ideal Candidate
- At least 10 years of experience in occupational health and safety, with a minimum of 3–5 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- One or combination of:
- Degree in OHS from a recognized Post-Secondary Institute with at least 15 years of industry experience
- Professional designation such as Certified Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC), Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), or equivalent
- Deep understanding of Canadian (Federal and Provincial) OHS legislation.
- Experience in complex environments such as airports, industrial facilities, or public infrastructure is preferred.
- Strong technical writing, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles is an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable with digital reporting and data analysis tools.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
- The ability to successfully complete a criminal record check and a Federal Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) security clearance process.
