Lead, Drafting and Design

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage team of drafters and third-party drafters, advising on training and professional development for staff.
• Create construction drawings and figures for reports and presentations, e.g. plans, elevations, sections, and details related to civil / geotechnical engineering and earthworks construction, including excavations, fills, slopes, retaining walls, foundations, stormwater management, sediment control, excavation shoring, groundwater, and soil stratigraphy.
• Work with engineers and other support staff in a team environment.
• Manage files and coordinate the receipt and issuing of drawings.
• Collect and interpret drawings and information provided by others, including architectural, engineering (e.g. structural, civil, geotechnical, mechanical), survey and utility drawings, and GIS systems.
• Manage relevant software by researching, updating, and implementing CAD software programs and applications.
• Collaborate with other departments to actively promote RAM and its services, participate in proposal preparation.
• Forecast and manage resource fluctuations and assist with recruiting key staff, as required.

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

• Experience in leading teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• The ability to think and visualize in 3D.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, including plotting, customizing, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with Civil 3D an asset.
• Proficiency with metric and Imperial engineering scales.
• Proficiency with common office files, including PDFs and spreadsheets.
• Experience in the field of drafting (a minimum of 6 years is preferred).
• Familiarity with the engineering/construction industry.
