We’re looking for our next Director, Credit Risk Strategy. Could it Be You?

Reporting to the Chief Credit Risk Officer, the Director, Credit Risk Strategy is responsible for heading the development, implementation, and maintenance of the overall credit risk strategies for credit cards at the enterprise level.

The Director, Credit Risk Strategy will lead a team that leverages data and analytics to develop and execute credit strategies across the life cycle for Flexiti’s private-label and general-purpose credit card portfolios.  These strategies will enable profitable growth while maintaining a portfolio loss profile that is consistent with the enterprise risk appetite. 

This role partners closely with our enterprise partners in product, sales, finance, technology, operations and customer experience to ensure a seamless customer and merchant experience and profitable revenue growth.

In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Leading a best-in-class credit risk management team that continuously improves credit adjudication and maximizes approval rates, minimizes customer friction and delivers profitable risk adjusted yield.
  • Demonstrating strong leadership, creating an employee culture of empowerment, encouragement, and on-going development.
  • Providing mentorship to team members to excel in their roles and future opportunities.
  • Developing and implementing lifetime value-based credit adjudication strategies.
  • Developing and implementing lifetime value-driven account management strategies e.g., limit increase and limit decrease.
  • Developing and maintaining credit risk models.
  • Ensuring appropriate controls for change management within the decision-engine.
  • Providing subject matter expertise on managing credit risk in the portfolio.
  • Managing key vendor relationships including the credit bureau and decision-engine provider.
  • Developing and implementing foundational testing for optimizing initial limit assignment and pricing.
  • Monitoring, tracking and reporting credit strategy performance.
  • Incorporating appropriated industry benchmarks into the portfolio reporting suite.
  • Monitoring, identifying and escalating material credit risks and trends, taking ownership of action plans to mitigate losses.
  • Producing actionable business insights through the analysis of data.
  • Supporting Legal and Compliance to deliver AML and reporting regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborating with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders including those in Risk Management, Finance, Software Development, Product Management and Operations.

 

So are YOU our next Director, Credit Risk Strategy? You are if you…

  • Hold a University Degree in a quantitative field, Statistics Economics, Business, Engineering or equivalent.
  • Have 7+ years risk management experience in the financial services/fintech industry
  • Have 7+ years of experience in a leadership capacity
  • Have a combined minimum of 10+ years of experience analyzing credit card data, implementing credit risk strategies, and making strategic recommendations to senior management
  • Have a strong understanding of consumer credit card industry and products, credit card business fundamentals, knowledge of P&L reporting and the credit card lifecycle
  • Have experience with credit adjudication platforms, parameter settings and rules management
  • Have experience with strategy development tools
  • Have strong statistical knowledge with a proven track record of working with other business leaders from across the organization to drive analytically based strategies
  • Have experience with machine learning and predictive model development and application
  • Have knowledge of credit card data and Key Performance metrics
  • Have previous people management experience
  • Have strong communications skills both written and verbal
  • Have the ability to see the big picture while being comfortable with day to day responsibilities
  • Have the ability to gather, analyze, organize, document and present information in a succinct and organized manner
  • Have sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritizing, and executing skills
