We are seeking a visionary Managing Director of Brokerage Operations to oversee and lead our brokerage operations, supporting a large-scale online retail brokerage and wealth business.

This role requires managing a team of 150+ employees across various operational departments. The ideal candidate will excel at driving operational efficiency, streamlining processes, fostering a culture of automation, and delivering exceptional service within clearly defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs). In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Operational Leadership:
- Oversee multiple critical departments within brokerage operations, including but not limited to:
- Client Account Management: ensuring efficient onboarding, maintenance, and resolution of client account-related inquiries.
- Trade Operations and Settlements: overseeing trade execution, clearing, and settlement functions to ensure accurate and timely delivery.
- Cash Management and Reconciliation: managing money movement, margin accounts, and reconciliation processes with precision.
- Compliance and Regulatory Operations: ensuring adherence to industry regulations, managing reporting requirements, and mitigating operational risk.
- Customer Support Operations: coordinating with support teams to provide efficient and responsive service aligned with SLAs.
- Technology and System Operations: collaborating with IT teams to maintain and enhance brokerage platforms, tools, and automation systems.
- Corporate Actions and Dividends Processing: managing operational aspects of corporate action events and client entitlements.
- Registered Plans: overseeing the accurate reporting and administration of multiple registered plan types.
- Tax: ensuring timely and accurate tax reporting to clients.
Strategic Planning and Execution:
- Develop and execute operational strategies that align with the organization’s long-term goals.
- Ensure scalable, efficient, and automated solutions are embedded across all operational functions to support growth.
Process Optimization and Continuous Improvement:
- Identify, implement, and oversee initiatives to improve workflows across all departments.
- Promote a Six Sigma, Lean, and data-driven culture to enhance efficiency and eliminate inefficiencies.
- Ensure cross-departmental collaboration to standardize processes and optimize outcomes.
Automation and Technology Integration:
- Partner with technology teams to implement automation and AI-driven solutions to reduce manual dependencies.
- Drive digital transformation initiatives across brokerage operations to achieve a highly scalable and efficient operating model.
Team Development and Leadership:
- Inspire and mentor a team of Directors, managers and employees across all operational departments.
- Build a collaborative, high-performing culture with a “can-do” attitude, focused on accountability and results.
- Implement training and development programs to upskill teams and promote continuous learning.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Maintain strict compliance with industry regulations and standards.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure operational controls are robust and effective.
Performance Management:
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across all operational functions.
- Implement performance dashboards and reporting to track SLA adherence, identify gaps, and drive corrective actions.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Finance, or a related field. MBA or advanced certifications (e.g., Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean Six Sigma) preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in brokerage or financial services operations.
- Proven track record of managing large teams (75+) in a high-growth, fast paced environment.
- Extensive experience overseeing multiple departments ideally within brokerage operations, including but not limited to account management, trade settlements, corporate actions
Technical Expertise:
- Strong understanding of retail brokerage operations, including trading systems, clearing and settlement processes, regulatory reporting and risk management.
- Experience implementing automation and AI-drive solutions to optimize operations.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and standards in financial services and brokerage operations (i.e. CIRO, FINRA, SEC)
- Experience working with books and records systems such as BPS, Dataphile, FIS, Torstone
- Demonstrated ability to streamline operations through process improvements, automation, and scalable solutions.
Leadership and Management Skills:
- Exceptional ability to inspire, lead and mentor cross-functional teams
- Proven expertise in building collaborative cultures with a focus on accountability, efficiency and customer satisfaction
- Strong decision making and problem solving skills, particularly in high-pressure environments with a data driven, results-oriented mindset.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Strategic thinking:
- Demonstrated ability to align operational goals with broader organizational strategies
- Strong business acumen with a focus on delivering scalable growth and efficiency.
Analytical and Process Improvement Skills:
- Expertise in Six Sigma, Lean methodologies, or other process improvement frameworks
- Data-drive mindset with ability to analyze performance metrics, identify trends and drive actionable insights.
- Working knowledge of tools such as PowerBI, SQL and other analytical tools
Additional information:
- Please note this role will be required to be in office 3 days a week.
