What’s it like working as a Manager, Accounting and Financial Reporting at Community Trust Company?
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance, the Manager, Accounting and Financial Reporting will lead the monthly financial statement preparation, variance analysis, hedge accounting, some other critical business accounting and ad hoc analysis as requested by Senior Management. The Manager, Accounting and Financial Reporting will also closely work on internal and external audits, technical accounting research and analysis, securitization accounting, drafting accounting memo, etc. in addition to supporting junior team members.

In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Financial Reporting
- Preparation of standalone and consolidated financial statement package and ensuring the financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Assist with the preparation of the quarterly MD&A and Board presentations.
- Ensuring the completeness and accuracy of annual financial statements and notes thereto with a close co-ordination with other functions and auditors.
- Attend and co-ordinate the group reporting deliverables and ensure alignment with group’s chart of accounts, segments, and cost centres requirements.
- Develop and manage analytical tools and processes to improve the quality and transparency of financial results and forecasts and to facilitate ad hoc reporting.
- Identify and implement areas for continuous improvements in financial reporting.
- Assist with internal and external financial statement audits.
Accounting
- Establish month end closing procedures with an objective of continuous improvement to ensure a timely, accurate and balanced month end close process.
- Oversee month-end closing activities, including review and posting of journal entries and account reconciliations, analyse accounts and determine necessary adjustments.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of Intercompany, Hedge, Forex, Expected Credit Loss, and Secured Funding Accounting
- Update policies to be compliant with new accounting pronouncements and provide accounting policy guidance to users throughout the Company.
- Stay current with changes in IFRS and update accounting policies to ensure they are in accordance with IFRS.
- Review the accounting treatment and impacts of new products and transactions; drafting accounting memos for critical accounting treatments/stands.
- Recommend, implement, and maintain process improvements within the Finance department, and in other departments as identified and required.
Projects and Other Support
- Support the FP&A team with variance analysis from the budget and financial targets while reporting on any issues and implementing corrective measures.
- Ad Hoc Strategic Analysis as required by Senior Management
- Represent the department on cross functional projects providing functional expertise and recommendations.

- CA/ CPA designation.
- University graduate, business/accounting specialization.
- 8+ years of experience working, with 5+ years of experience in financial services.
- Experience working on consolidation of financial statements in a mid to large group of entities set up and hands on working experience in hedge accounting.
- Proficient with Google/Microsoft Windows/ MS Office Applications.
- Experienced with ERPs and Reporting tools like Power BI and others.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills – experience manipulating and arranging large data sets using Pivot tables, Lookup, and formulas.
- Strong business acumen and analytical skills including ability to conduct quantitative analysis.
- Attention to detail while being able to step back to consider the impacts on the consolidated entity.
- Aptitude to work with large amounts of data and to manipulate, arrange and manage it effectively.
- Ability to recognize issues and take initiative to work on finding an effective solution.
- Ability to apply critical thinking to business issues and drive results.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
