5-Ton Truck Driver (Class 5 License with Air Brake Endorsement)

Pay Rate: $25.89 per hour

We are looking for a responsible and motivated 5-Ton Truck Driver to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will hold a Class 5 driver’s license with Air Brake endorsement, with a commitment to safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. This role involves transporting goods across various locations, maintaining warehouse operations, and collaborating with team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to daily warehouse schedules to ensure on-time product deliveries.
- Safely load and unload trucks using forklifts or manual handling where necessary, ensuring product integrity.
- Deliver products and supplies to various shop locations across the Lower Mainland.
- Shuttle goods between Purdys Warehouses, and other Greater Vancouver locations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure they are safe and ready for operation.
- Ensure compliance with traffic laws, safety policies, and company standards.
- Assist with warehouse duties including packing, shipping, receiving, and organizing products and supplies.
- Perform vehicle maintenance checks (fluid levels, brakes, tires, lights) and report any mechanical issues immediately.
- Coordinate with warehouse staff to manage inventory accuracy, ensuring products are properly documented and stored in accurate location
- Communicate with Supervisor to update on delivery progress and address any issues.
- Ensure timely reporting of any accidents, delays, or delivery issues.
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with shop personnel during deliveries.
Additional Qualifications:
- Class 5 driver’s license with Air Brake endorsement (Class 3 or higher preferred).
- Clean driving record with verifiable experience in driving commercial vehicles (e.g., 5-ton trucks).
- Previous or current forklift certification is an asset.
- Experience with GPS and routing software to plan and follow the most efficient routes.
- Strong time management skills to ensure deliveries are completed within schedule.
- Familiarity with basic vehicle maintenance and a proactive approach to ensuring vehicle safety.
- Physically fit, able to lift heavy loads (up to 50 lbs) and perform manual labor as needed.
- Strong problem-solving skills in case of delivery route changes, traffic delays, or unforeseen challenges.
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision while adhering to company policies.
