Job Summary
As a respite care worker, to provide quality respite childcare for parents with children 0 to age 6 at the Corkstown Transitional House. As an afterschool program assistant, to oversee the planning and onsite delivery of an after-school/summer program geared to high-risk children ages 4 to 6, and to provide support, information and resources to high-risk families.
Job Specific Responsibilities
- Set up and plan and environment with age-appropriate activities following the How Does Learning Happen pedagogy
- Ensure that health and safety regulations under the Childcare Early Years Act are met
- Participate in programming and organizational meetings, as required
- Provide information, support and resources to high-risk families
- Supervise program assistants, volunteers and student placements
- Perform program-related administrative duties such as registrations, attendance, data collection and program purchases
- Liaise with other relevant programs at PQCHC and those of the facility where the program operates
- Represent the program within the community at meetings, as required
- Supervise up to 20 children, ages 0 to 6
- Other duties, as required
Qualifications
- Early Childhood Education or equivalent
- Two years' experience working with children
- Knowledge or experience working with high-risk families
- Good organizational and administrative skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with adults and children
- Program planning experience
- Knowledge of community resources
- Current certificate in First Aid/CPR
- English essential, other languages considered an asset
