Project Coordinator – External Relations
Full-time, 1 year term
It is the mission of Tungasuvvingat Inuit (TI) to broadly provide Inuit-specific programs that contribute to the health and wellbeing of Inuit and to encourage and support similar programs for Inuit across the country. With over 30 years of highly successful experience in crafting the design, development, and delivery of a wide range of effective, client-centered services, TI continues to deliver quality programs and services that directly benefit our growing urban Inuit population.
Reporting directly to the Regional Manager, Operations, the Project Coordinator’s key responsibilities are maintaining project documentation, which include plans and reports, controlling schedules, communicating the project’s progress to team members and other stakeholders, and managing the project’s budget issues and risks of the relationship building project with the Ministry of Indigenous Affairs Ontario (MIAO), as outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding. The Project Coordinator utilizes and incorporates the 8 Guiding Principles of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit and Inuit traditional teachings when approaching all areas of responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Hold bi-annual meetings to discuss Social economic impacts, health and wellbeing of Inuit and ways to support partnership and collaborative processes.
- Quarterly check-ins with MIAO priorities, activities, and outcomes.
- Prepare annual activity and financial reporting.
- Assisting and providing administrative support to the Regional Manager, Operations (project lead).
- Identify and provide recommendations to access funding with MIAO, other ministries and update senior management on possible funding avenues.
- Organizing and attending stakeholder meetings.
- Organizing project team meetings and recording minutes.
- Designing and controlling the project schedule and meeting deadlines.
- Support Toronto programming.
- Assist with financial, administrative, and operational tasks at Toronto office.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of Inuit culture, values, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit and traditional practices. Will have strong knowledge of the unique needs and issues impacting Inuit communities. Knowledge of general office and financial administration as well as standard/non-profit office practices and procedures is required.
Excellent interpersonal skills along with the ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment, outstanding organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills, expert level written and verbal communication skills, and strong decision-making skills are required.
The ability to be an effective team player, to handle confidential information with discretion, to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment is essential. The ability to work occasional evenings and weekends and ability to travel from time to time is required.
A post-secondary education in Indigenous studies, humanities, or social sciences and 3-5 years of experience in internal and external communications as well as partnership development is required. Experience in fundraising is also preferred. Proficient use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, video-conferencing platforms and electronic records management applications is required. A clear Vulnerable Sector Check with results acceptable to TI is required. Fluency in English is required and the ability to communicate in Inuktitut is a significant asset.
An acceptable combination of related education and work experience may be considered.
Salary and Benefits
- Salary $60,000 annually
