The Manager, Equipment and Facilities will be responsible for the strategy and management of materials handling equipment solutions and property mechanical and facility systems and other facility matters for multiple locations across Canada in accordance with our corporate programs. The primary objective of the role is to provide operational support on all aspects of equipment and facilities improvements while ensuring we are receiving the best possible service at the lowest possible cost.
Responsibilities:
• Managing and directing the monitoring and implementation of building and equipment maintenance programs. This includes forklifts, racking, generators, HVAC, sprinklers, compressors, ventilation, lighting, waste, and automation systems. You will provide priorities and direct task management to 3rd party vendors and contractors who complete these tasks.
• Ensure services are delivered as specified in SOW and costs are in line with agreed budgets and ultimately deliver on operational requirements. (i.e. MHE, racking, security, garbage, etc.)
• Manage, Direct and Lead vendors and operations teams; this will involve you setting budgets, timelines, and priorities for:
i. Existing or NEW customer initiatives
ii. construction and renovation projects
iii. elements of facility start-up and decommissioning.
iv. Other various facilities initiatives, such as racking changes, renovations, and equipment upgrades.
• Regular facilities audits will be conducted for continuous improvement purposes, preventative maintenance reviews and vendor/operations expense management
• Ensure all equipment and MHE are utilized efficiently and effectively and make recommendations for improvements as necessary
• Developing and maintaining detailed cost databases for operational budgeting and trending equipment and facilities expenses to set benchmarks and aid in effective cost management within this area of the business
• Manages and oversees the facilities including preventive and predictive maintenance, major repairs, building services and installation of equipment to ensure continuous operations.
• Assists in developing capital budgets. Actual costs to be reported against budget estimates.
• Provides a regular (i.e. monthly) equipment order summary detailing unit description, monthly lease/purchase rates, purchase terms and expiry dates, maintenance rates, book value, and any client contract information. The purpose of regular updates are to ensure Equipment/MHE orders are aligned with corporate strategy and capital budget spends.
• Monitors and audits vendor services to ensure alignment with contractual agreements. Develops, monitors and coordinates payment schedules for the supply and implementation of equipment and services.
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical / industrial engineering or equivalent work experience.
• A minimum of 10 years’ work experience in facility maintenance and construction.

o Experience working with trades
o Property Management
o Procurement and/or Vendor Management
• Proven strategic leadership and change management skills
• Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), Smartsheet (Project Management tools), and various database applications.
• Proven negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Excellent communication skills in both written and oral.
• Ability to create positive relationships and partnerships internally and externally.
• Management reporting and trending of KPI’s
